Have got to get Ds this mug on Wednesday . He will find it hysterical.

Have just checked lists and I can get away with dividing one of dds gifts, so they will still have the same.

With ds having asd, I find him so hard to buy for.
I just love it when I find something he will really like.

Dd had to do a school project on Christmas, at primary school. There are lots of lovely traditions out there.

A good question to ask is ' How many gifts were given in The 12 Days of Christmas ?'

If you don't mind me asking how old is DS? What sort of things can he/ can't he cope with? (hope I haven't phrased that badly?!)
    Stopped smoking 20th October 2012 :D

This year I will have something that resembles a garden and not a building site!

That is a brilliant question thank you. Last year they complained it was too difficult but when I offered to make it easier this year I was met with a chorus of nos! :snow_laug

No thats fine. I wish more people would ask.

He is 19 and has aspergers.

He doesn't like change in routine. He doesn't remember it. When we moved he went back to the old house for over a week.

He doesn't like lots of people together, as it takes him more time to register what people are saying to him, so a lot of voices rattles him.

He believes a lot of things he sees and hears. One year we had real trouble getting him to leave the house as he thought he would get bird flu and die.
If you tell him money burns a hole in your pocket, and he has some , he will pull his trousers down.

His senses are not the same as yours or mine. He feels, smells and tastes things differently to you or I.

But mainly he has no empathy. The world revolves around him. He just sees what he sees. He once saw someone walking his Dads dog. He told me quite calmly that his Dad was dead and someone had his dog. He couldn't think of any other reason to describe what he saw. But it didn't bother him that his dad was dead, (He was working away) as he isn't part of this normal day.

He can be funny at times. Although he doesn't realise it. He went on a day trip to the local barracks. When he finished the assault course he texted me
' Have finished, but it killed me' (He had heard someone say it.)
He then panicked and texted ' I am not really dead. That is a saying!' :rotfl:

Sometimes I feel that I live with a stranger, as I still have no idea how he really sees the world.

He will love that mug, as he thinks Bad Boys are gangsters. I can just see him now telling everyone ' Don't mess with me I'm a Bad Boy. I have a mug that says so !' :rotfl:

Linky I love that mug too, if fact it's a gift set isn't it. How clever of you to find it for your DS. I have no experience of aspergers at all so thank you for that, day to day that must be very challenging. I kno it's only a story but I think I remember a child on BBC1 Waterloo Rd having aspergers too. Not sure how true a portrayal it was but she said things as they were quiet literally. No notion of "raining cats and dogs" etc. You probably think me silly now :(

Archiebear your day sounds just perfect to me. Treasure your DGS and the cuddles:) And well done you with the no smoking. It's 8.5 years since I gave up and most days still fancy a cig, it only lasts seconds and then it's gone. Think once I got my head round that it got easier:)

I don't think you are silly at all.
I have never watched the show, but my son just says things as they are.

I once told him to get on the bus and he replied,
' I will, when the fat lady gets out of my way'
Oh, if the ground had only opened.:rotfl:

And he hates the sat nav, as the time of arrival always goes up, and he thinks we will NEVER get there.
