Hi everyone, havent done anything much christmassy recently. No pennies! Still really gutted I cant place a dotcomgiftshop order especially the polka dot storage boxes that are now out of stock.
Just thought of something I bought a few weeks ago in Poundland, a really cute gingerbread man shaped storage box, would be great to fill with cookies or something as a gift.

I got 2 sets of those dotty boxes! They're great for £1.95 for 3 but no way I'd pay £15 for them. Sadly 1 lid was broken (the bit you use to lift the lid up) but its still usable!0 -
Christmas starts for me when I go to the Winter Wonderland in Center Parcs mid November. Then when we come home we clean the house from top to bottom & put up the tree last Sunday in November.
This year I'll be in a new house & super duper excited about putting up my 7ft tree & all the branches. Cos in my current house its too big & I can't put the full tree & the back branches cos its sticking out too much! lol!0 -
Be prepared for more than 1 cuppa pinkmami! I joined back when we where somewhere in the late 20's and it took me about 4 hours to read it all lol.
I agree, countdown starts after bonfire and offically when you get the decs up (usually 5th Dec in my house). Also as someone said when 'holidays are coming' advert comes on - nothing quite like that ad!!
Havent done much Christmassy the past week either - lack of pennies here too. Had my sons bday party this weekend just gone and that cost an arm and leg. Still doing really well tho - have my spread sheet sorted and have brought pressies for 27 people and the teachers. I have 36 people plus 1 family and teachers to get for (plus my own 2 and oh). Made a start on my childrens xmas eve hampers and their stockings and oh's stocking. Also got my money box piling up for xmas activities so feeling pretty good right now.0 -
Totally lack of pennies here too. I'm coming to the end of a huge house renovation which has taken 2.5 yrs. A long 2.5 yrs but we're moving in the next 4 weeks. So any spare cash goes on buying bits & pieces.
Still I have my high street vouchers coming in form Park (I'm an agent) and some comission so that will help. Most on my shopping list are either young kids or adults so the smaller ones can be given pots of pencils (got some from the dotcom sale) and colouring books & a toy, adults have some wine/cheese/chocs.
Mine are 10, 8 & 4 and the older 2 have things like laptops, ipods, Ipads, Iphone........get my drift!?...... on their lists! Over my dead body they get them! I've promised to buy them eacha micro hi-fi but they're pretty cheap anyhow, a few CD's & clothes from Primark & a few nick naks.
DS is happy with cars/planes/tractors etc! Easily pleased!0 -

For me it has to be The Polar Express, 'I believe', gets me every time!
oh me too!! I get shivers down my spine, and the bit at the end where he says one day the sweet sound fell silent for Sarah too, but not for him, not for those who truly beleive .. :T it has to be my favourite Christmas film, so beautifully done, the music too - my DD's school Christmas concert last year the orchestra played a medley from Polar Express, it really got to me, she's watched that film every Christmas for years and there she was playing it!0 -

Would barney be suitable for very young children (14 months)? My children were never into Barney  We had the teletubbies and the tweenies xmas specials.
I must write a list and get cracking buying some bits and pieces.
I think I'm going to do my daughter a 'relaxing' hamper. She has a 10 month old little girl and I think she could do with it! So far I have got her the new paperback Flash and Bones, she likes crime stuff. I will put in some xmassy pj's and slipper boots too.
I have 4 white mugs (from the 2nd hand shop) which I am going to paint with very simple xmassy designs - holly leaves and berries I think. So I need some pens for this. Then I'm going to do snowman soup with the mugs all wrapped in cellophane.
Have a good week, dreaming of a white christmas :T

PS What signifies the start of the countdown to Christmas for you? I know we love to countdown all year!
Mine is when Strictly Come Dancing starts :j:j:j
PS2 We always put our tree up on the 1st Sunday in December, so this year it will be Sunday 2nd
yes Barney would be fine for toddler, mine always loved him and the others, there are loads of kids in it so am sure 14 month old would really love itwe had the Tweenies Christmas one when my DD was little, was very sweet!
