Well, I have only gone and done it! Got 2 Christmas cakes in the oven as I type. Started later in day than I planned, but forgot I had to go to hairdresser. Spent £55 on ingredients, but when I consider that I am planning to make 8 cakes out of that, it is not that much really, will make another 2 tomorrow. Why does all the prep take so long, if only I could have someone to do that for me, it would be great!!!A smile costs little but creates much0

This is one of my favourite 'crafty' blogs to look at, I think I might have a go, but to be honest mine would look nothing like these!
Enjoy browsing through :rudolf:

I am sitting here now typing with Elf playing, and the weather is very Novemberish here!
I'm just starting out on the long (& probably messy) path to divorceso I really needed something to lift my spirits! Thank you all.
I love Christmas too! The build up is wonderful. My DS's birthday is the best day of the year, Christmas Eve!
This year is going to be a bit different, not only with me and OH splitting but my brother, his wife and 2 girls are all back from Oz for a month :T So we will be spending 21st Dec - 1st Jan in Cornwall with his in-laws (we all get on!) We will be staying in a Prem!er !nn though as there is not enough room at the house for us all! I think I might try and book Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve in a 'proper' hotel, a bit plusher! Just depends on price though.
Don't get me wrong I'm really looking forward to it but it will take a bit of planning with pressies etc. I am glad that we are doing something different or it could have been awkward with OH. We are still living in the same house but seperately IYSWIM? He won't leave and is being really difficult. So will be glad to get away.
Sorry to go on, but its nice to be somewhere warm and happy with like minded people
BBTHREE I love Peep Show, I'm going to have a look in our A$da today but I'm not holding out much luck!
I can't claim the credit for this as I read it on another forum but if you register with camelcamelcamel.com it keeps an eye on items on Amaz0n for you, you put in a price you would like to pay and when (if) it drops to that price you get an email - I did it for the Friends box set last year. I am keeping an eye on the James Bond box set too. HTH.
Have a good day

thank for the tip about camelcamelcamel, that's really helpful! I have my eye on House Season 8 boxset for DD so that will save me having to keep checking! I got the JB boxset for DS for Christmas for £45 back in January, but it goes up and down like a yoyo doesnt it?! Ive got it in my Amazon basket again as I wanted another for a family gift, and last time I logged in it had shot up to £83! but it will come back down again
so sorry to hear about your divorce and that things are difficultknow that must be very hard to deal with, hopefully we can help keep you smiling and looking forward to Christmas :j, it sounds like you will have a lovely time with family though - and hotels over Chrismtas can be so lovely with log fires, Christmas music etc, so hope you can find somewhere lovely to stay

I can't wait to get my dotcomgift order now hearing how pleased you've all been with yours! I went for some umbrellas and folding shopping bags too as they are such good stocking fillers.
I need to update my Christmas present list I think. I'm sure I have more sorted than I realise.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

Has anybody or does anybody cut fresh holly to decorate the house at Christmas. really want to have fresh holly on fireplace, dinner table and stairs this year. Holly is plentiful and free.
My question is, how long does it last cut. Bare in mind it won't be sat in water after cultivating, it will be set around the house. Don't want to cut it too early and have it looking wilted come the 25th.0 -

Thank you for that. I really hope we can find somewhere nice that's not going to cost a fortune! Anyone got any recommendations for Saltash or Plymouth? Thankscarlamarie wrote: »welcome to the newbies!

hi im back from my holiday nothing much sorted for xmas in regards to IF we r going we will see
i got my lil son and newphew a pocket kite each out of tesco for £1.08 each, some summer toys being reduced in asda n tesco worth keeping an eye-out also gardening bits being reduced if u have any keen gardeners in the family
waiting for thurs and then will but in an order for dotcom gifts looks fab :T0 -
my 1st order from Dotcom came within 3-4 days, the one I placed Wednesday evening is still showing as 'packing' but then there is a 'dispatched' note on the account and 'track here' but comes up 'no info' and Ive not had dispatch email like I did with the first, so I think perhaps they are having a very busy time with the high amount of orders, so will give it another few days then email if ive not heard, but sounds like backlog0
