Hi all,
I went away for a week a couple of weeks ago, and I'm still struggling to catch up! Lovely to see soooooo many christmassy posts.
My heart goes out to those for whom Christmas can be a sad time of year. I know from personal experience how gut-wrenching it can be. It does help me try to appreciate what I have though. I always think of loved ones around the Christmas period, and myself and my hubby take mini poisiettas to the plaques of people we have lost and have a few quiet moments to remember them.
To all those with new little bundles of joy - congratulations :-D It will be my LO's second Christmas this year, such an exciting time!
Haven't added much to my Christmas pressie box lately, as have had my Dad's birthday just passed and my Mum's and Brother's birthdays are both in November so I'm planning for those at the moment. Have been adding to my ideas list though, and hinted to hubby that I wouldn't mind a day all to myself for Christmas shopping :-D He loves to spend time alone with our LO so I'm sure that won't be a problem.
Have also scheduled in two Christmas shopping days with my Mum - it's become a tradition of ours.
Love hearing about everyone's bargain finds and pressie ideas. It's all very inspiring!0 -
Archiebear - do you mind me asking what your Hot Hot Hot hamper is please? Is it spicy stuff?
We picked our secret santa at the weekend (first year of doing it - me, Dh, and my 2 brothers) and I got my youngest brother. Seeing your hamper title made me think that'd be a great idea for him as he loves all things spicy!0 -

Very limited Internet connection but was missing by festive friendly forum so had to pop on. Not had chance to catch up or reply so quick thanks to everyone's advice for dd movie hamper, congrats to yet more new & expecting mummies! The asda advert is very upsetting as it does imply mums buy Xmas pressies, it's almost up there with last years little woods ad (who put an Xbox under the tree) as top "how to ruin the magic of christmas" ad of the year!
Off to Colchester tomorrow (we're holidaying ab 12 miles away) and just found out there's a lush! I promise to try not to blow rest of my holiday money, but I so hope they're Xmas range is in! And finally does anyone know official date for first cola ad?It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Wow! Another mammoth catch up on here.
(((HUGS))) to all of you who need some. I hope despite your sadness and loss, you still manage to enjoy the festivities, those missing will be there in your hearts.
Regarding the Asda ads - I suppose it depends on what children believe. As kids we were told, mum bought all the pressies and sent them to Santa for him to wrap and look after (so if we were naughty, he'd give them to some other child) and that our stockings came from Santa. Presents from grandma, aunties etc. well, Santa told them what to buy us from our lists.
Also as we had a gas fire, a little elf snook through the letterbox to find the back door key.
DH's mum told them Santa bought them one pressie each (labelled from Santa) and she bought the rest as Santa was too busy to shop for every pressie for every child in the world.0 -

For those of you who shop at Mr T if you have any used clubcard vouchers - the ones you get sent every quarter, Morrisons are accepting them in payment, even if you have used them i.e converted them to deals. I had £10 on my notice board that I had used a while ago for a magazine subscription but Morrisons took them no problem. You can only use one voucher per transaction but my store had no problem in me splitting my shopping up - I used a £5.00 then a £4.50 and then a £1. Stocked up on stuff for my Christmas cupboard. £10 is £10 when it comes to free food
Only some stores are participating but I do have a list if anyone is interested.
Yes please to the list0
