Always after a bargin-I must dig out my christmas CD, was playing it earlier this year but have mislaid it! *tut*
It so very sad when soldiers are lost. You are so right. I dont allow myself to be drawn into petty arguments or !!!!!iness or anything like that. Life is far too short and we dont know what is to come. All we can do is treat others how we wish to be treated, have respect and kindness for each other and try to live each day to the fullest. xx
Yes you should show people that you love and care for them every day of the year but it is hard for some people and also hard when it is male relatives like brothers and uncles! So Christmas is wonderful because you can all come together as a family and you dont have to express your love in a specific way, it is all around you. Hope that makes sense. Sorry have gone off on a tangent! x'They only had one cow!'0 -
Thank you so much about this -will see what I can do. This year we have both hit 50 and health problems started (both been fit as fiddles til now so real shock) so although we painted last year we are not in a position this year (me with chemo and radiotherapy and his back went last Oct prolapsed disc off work 5 months and now symptons reappearing). We did 3 bedrooms hallway, landing, stairs and toilet - looking a mess - so will now further my research (after completing application for my DS secondary school for next year). Thank you so much!!:j:T
QUOTE=Always after a bargin;56717445]Always after a bargain - thank you for this post. Our paint done last year going yellow particulaly where furniture in front of the skirting - - paint from 6 yers ago looks whiter than last years. Anyhow we have had a bad year this yera (lost my job, then diagnosed with breast cancer 6 weeks after, and going through chemo!). Anyhow didn't do anything as so much going on and OH going on about its the new EU regulations about paint (despite me going it has to be fit for purpose).
I don't think I have the original receipts but probably still have the paint tins with barcodes on. Can you let me know how you got your refund? I missed the Watchdog - will try and google that but if anyone has date link it would be helpful. But you have saved my sanity .... always done a good paint job til now!
My heart goes out to you - my husband was in forces during the conflict in Bosnia and I worked with youngsters in the 90s during the first Afghanistan war - its so hard on everyone!:(
Hugs to all that need it - this is why Xmas is so important - my kids have informed me that they don't believe in Santa but they still want the elves to visit!:D
Yes your indeed right it was do to with new regulations etc and them altering the solvent level. Hubby had decorated the house before he went away on tour , it was done last year before Christmas. Slowly it started to go yellow, I blamed him telling him it was because he never sanded, used primer etc, it was awful, even lifting ornaments off the the windowsills, would leave a yellow mark to show where it had been. We discovered after research and the press coverage it was because of them altering the Solvent level. Hubby went back into the store with our tins which was still in our shed, with pictures on his phone of our paintwork. They gave us vouchers there and then, I know that some people have phoned customer services and had it through just giving barcodes of the tins over the phone, as many would not even begin to imagine that would of happend. Looking online that painting and decorating businesses have lost thousands in money and are currently taking them to court. We could of pushed to have labour costs but as hubby done it we just wanted the paint refund. We went with a water based gloss this time, harder to apply but stays white for years.
Good luck if you need anymore info give me a shout, just google it online it will bring all the press coverage about it up x0 -

I wonder if there are other people on here that are just couples or small families that don't go anywhere on christmas and what they do to make it feel more christmassy?
If it snows i wont care :rotfl: that will make it perfect and i wont need to do anything else to make it feel more special
I am obviously very excited to be having our new addition to the family and can see us being walking zombies spending all day in our pjs watching tv and trying not to burn the turkey and being grateful of no commitments :rotfl: but it never quite feels like christmas without lots of other people around.
so i was just wondering what i could do to make it "feel" more like christmas? might help others in a similar situation too.
This sounds like our day (minus the baby) and I love itWe are going to visit both our families but only because we feel a tad guilty for declining their offers of Christmas day lunch :rotfl:
We do stockings for each other which we hang up on each side of the bed before we go to sleep so we can open them in bed on Christmas morning, then we head downstairs, put the tree lights on, xmas music or one of music channels showing xmassy songs, open our pressies, bacon butties, shower and get all dressed up, visit families this year, start on lunch, set the table all fancy (crackers, napkins, fish the posh glasses and cutlery out from the pantry etc.) stuff our faces, watch dvds we've got as pressies, play a few games, pjs on and slob on the sofa for the evening - BLISS!

well we made it up to the postoffice and a quick shop... shes not as bright red in the cheeks now so maybe the fresh air did some good. Got my santa keys at last! and some bah humbug baubles in card factory, then went into 99p shop got some magic snow, elf hat, some gingerbread man bowls and santa bowls and plates, oh and grabbed the tubes of sweets for stockings which were £1 in tescos atm, just need to get 3 more choc oranges and some more choc coins as someone keeps munching those lol.
Tescos also had some lovely onesies.. some xmassy others not so but you could wear the xmassy ones all year round as they aren't so in your face as primarks lol, Might get those ones instead but still need to get a small penguin primark one!Totally debt free wohooo 2014

Thank you, what I meant is not others being petty etc, mean that before I would of made something be more important than it was, a argument, fall out or something someone may of done or I would of done something to upset someone and thought very light of it but now looking back and seeing people ill with cancer, people losing loved ones every day, me seeing my husband go off to tour and knowing there was every chance he may not of come back and then seeing the one thing I dreaded through the 6 months happen infront of me when I saw a wife and children lay wreaths down for their lost hero put everything in perspective for me and I have vowed to cherish the memories of loved ones who are no longer in my life through death and some who I have lost through my own fault ,love and look after the Ones that remain and live each day as its my last as its more than some get. Sorry very emotional today don't know why but off now to find some more bargains ha ha ::rotfl:'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0 -
Emailed Westfield shopping centre (Stratford) about half an hour ago and they have just emailed back, great customer service! I asked when Grotto tickets would be on sale and they said should be late next week.'They only had one cow!'0
