popped into primark and thought I'd check out all the xmas stuff cant buy any yet
but doesnt mean I cant look
and found a lovely supersoft fleecy all in one @ £5 (sizes upto 24 mths) its dark green with santa/snowman/rudolph heads on and snowmen on the feet and coz I went in to get pjs anyway its would have been wrong not to get them so my youngest is now the proud owner/wearer of xmas pjs :j
right off to try and catch up on the dozens of pages I've missed the last few daysthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
I have just been through the entire TV guide and set up to record Halloween and Christmas films for the upcoming 7 days.
It feels so Christmassy here right now with it being so dark and foggy!
I have looked into Christmas events that are free around where we live and feel a bit disappointed because EVERYTHING is aimed at the Children. Oh well, next year we will be able to join in.
I feel a bit deflated because my Dad is going to Spain to visit my grandparents on 23 or 24th December meaning a break in our traditional Christmas eve lunch for 2 years running. To be fair though with everything he has been through this past 2 years he deserves the break but I look forward to it because nobody quite gets me in the mood for Christmas like my whacky dad
The inlaws are going to Newquay (which I am secretly happy about) but not because i dislike them but because i hate hubby spending 4 hours driving them back and forth and i worry if the weather is bad.
My Mum and her BF mentioned Christmas yesterday and when we said we are "being abandoned" LOL we didn't get an invite over as they are cancelling their Boxing day party from now on too!
So we have it in the diary to see my inlaws on 22nd and go see my dad 21st after hubby finishes work for an hour and as my mum doesn't seem interested at all in our baby im sure she will just send something by post or nip in for 10 minutes at some point Christmas week. Then it's just the 3 of us by ourselves for 2 weeks
Part of me thinks it will be lovely to have some time to establish life as new parents and as hubby will be off for 2 weeks it will be lovely to give him some bonding time as he wont have paternity leave and it will be very nice but I am worried that Christmas wont feel like Christmas? That it will just seem like another day. If that makes any sense.
I wonder if there are other people on here that are just couples or small families that don't go anywhere on christmas and what they do to make it feel more christmassy?
If it snows i wont care :rotfl: that will make it perfect and i wont need to do anything else to make it feel more special
I am obviously very excited to be having our new addition to the family and can see us being walking zombies spending all day in our pjs watching tv and trying not to burn the turkey and being grateful of no commitments :rotfl: but it never quite feels like christmas without lots of other people around.
so i was just wondering what i could do to make it "feel" more like christmas? might help others in a similar situation too.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

I got my husband this for his Birthday (2nd Oct) and it was just something little I thought would be good for when walking home in Snow and Winter weather - He has put it on his keys and proclaimed last night it was brilliant "particularly for picking up dog poo" :rotfl: but he said it has come in handy so much already! So I think would make a great stocking filler.

also he leaves me notes every morningand so I brought him these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004TS1HJW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
they are really cool, like a flip book (his was a plane) another thing I was surprised he was so impressed with!
I am done really but always on the look out for things to bulk his stocking up and have a little bit of an amazon gift card left so if anyone has any other suggestions for men it would be a big help
oh and this was £5 when I brought it, but my hubby has it in the kitchen and "plays" with it everyday, definitely worth its price i am been very pleased with how much use it has already had.

Thank you for the links spacecadet1 :-) will have a proper nosey through tonight & decide!
We're in a similar situation chirpychick, for the past 4 years me & OH have gone abroad with my family a few days before christmas, then come home around 3rd Jan.
My family are still going away this christmas on the 23rdso for the first time we have got christmas on our own.. My OH is really looking forward to it, but I have never spent Christmas without my family around. Its usually a house full on Christmas Eve, 7 of us Christmas Morning then a house full again Christmas Night.
For the past few weeks i've been trying to think of new traditions to start with the 2 of us. I love 'traditional' christmases, so for Christmas eve i'm thinking of baking & films etc. But I want it to feel how it was with my family around.. but i doubt it ever will!
On the plus side we always have a christmas day usually the week before where we open presents and have a big meal with family. The same will be happening this year however me & OH won't be opening ours!
Sorry to babble on:j Debt free as of 04/10/2012! :j:xmassmile [STRIKE]Saving[/STRIKE] Spending for Christmas! :xmassmile0 -
