I managed to get the Musical Christmas Tree biscuit tin, its really lovely and you can use it without taking teh biscuits out, not sure til I open it how airtight it would be once biscuits out of their bag though, but really pretty.
I think everybody has misunderstood what I said about the tree biscuit tin.
I didn't get one as there is nowhere to keep sweets or toffees in it. When you take the top off everything would fall out. I wanted to be able to use it again as storage.0 -

I like The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaarder, a story told through scraps of paper found in an advent calendar. I read it when I was around 11 years old and then read it each Christmas for a couple of years that followed - I used to read it one day at a time, in line with the advent calendar lol.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Christmas-Mystery-Jostein-Gaarder/dp/0753808668/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1350900695&sr=1-3Fifty years ago a girl disappeared from her home in Norway. She ran after a lamb and found herself travelling right across Europe to Palestine, and back through 2000 years to meet the Holy Family in Bethlehem. There she met angels, shepherds, wise men and other biblical characters who joined her on her pilgrimage; and she heard of many of the things that happened in the world in the last 2000 years. In present-day Norway, a boy acquires a strange old Advent calendar. Hidden in each of the windows is a tiny piece of paper. Little by little these pieces unfold the girl's story and as we learn what happened to her, another story is revealed - that of the strange old man who made the calender.0 -
I just caught the end of the new ASDA Christmas advert - a mum stuffing toys in a cupboard and the phrase 'because the best presents don't happen by magic'
Please tell me that I have either misheard or the first half of the advert was pro-santa, because the bit I saw looked like it was killing the magic of Christmas for any young children who may have seen it

saw that too!but it was more of a 'because those extra little gifts don't happen by magic' was more aimed at extra bits mum gets rather than anything else I think

*delurks* Well I've only just found this out, so in case anyone else didn't know, The Works has a website as well and for a 7 day delivery it is only 99p.
Just a heads up - their delivery is very very slow. Some items come from local stores and take a week, others come from their warehouse and take a lot longer. I contacted them after waiting over a week for my delivery (it's nearly 2 now and still no parcel!) and they said they have a massive back log and many haven't been sent.
So be aware if your looking to get something soon may be best to try in store first?!
Hope everyone is well
Oh and on a totally random note - I am an absolute addict of Pistachio ice cream but hate paying £3 a scoop at many places as no stores sell it in tubs. I even emailed Mr T begging them to stock it! Well when I went in my Mr T Extra on Friday they are now stocking it (Joe Delucci range). It tastes amazing and I feel like Christmas has come early for me!! :j It is on a limited edition so not sure how long it will stay for...I hope forever! :T0 -
This is one of the paperbacks due out this week but noticed its already got a lot of really good reviews on amazon, presumably some people got theirs extra early or had proof copies! will look out for it in supermarket

I case more ideas were needed for DVDs for a 12 year old? How about 'Confessions of a Shopaholic', 'St Trinians', 'The Princess Diaries', 'Leap Year'
I did think of some others, but they got lost between your post and the several pages between0
