  • meee! ok, DS and PS3 games, boxsets dvds, books (Hawkins Bazaar have some fab funny ones suitable for that age on sale) stuff to do with their interests and hobbies, fun stuff from Hawkin? board games, itunes gift cards, gift card for any sites they are on with their friends? gift cards for shops or websites, sports equipment? footy annual etc. You can get those wooden and baize mini snooker tables in M&S, Hawkin etc (they are about£15-20, 2ft x 18 inches, you can play a good game on them and they are great quality) Hawkin do several, also the mini table football and they do a mini air hockey game? all £20 and under and get a lot of use

I can second the Hawkins Bazaar books, just bought 2 for an 11 year old boy. Read one of them-can't help it! if there is a book in the house I read it-The other one I stopped half way through (think its called 'Horrible Facts' or something) as its gross(there are things I realise I don't need to know about bugs or the human body _pale_) perfect for a boy of that age.

  • Been searching & searching for a christmas themed hamper box but it has to be pink! I've done my sister a pamper hamper and everything is pink themed :-) i'm incredibly fussy with things matching! Or some sort of christmas wrapping paper (which is pink!) then I could wrap a cardboard box!

If anyone sees one on their travels, give me a heads up!

    HELP ME! :p thankyou xxxx

  • Or do you think this..

would look good if I tied some silver ribbon around it and I have got some big 3D glittery snowflakes, stick one of them on?
I'm not cellophaning it so I want it to look pretty :-)

Oh that looks pretty, and sounds like a good idea. Guessing you would struggle to find pink Christmas wrapping that isn't hello kitty or Disney princess, unless you just got the plain metallic ones? they usually come in a range of colours.

that is nice. seriously nice. you could get silver tissue paper to line the base? to match your silver ribbon? My sis loves pink and that might be a future idea.

I am curious why you dont want to do the cellophane- I ask because as a first time hamper maker I have to do about 4 xmas hampers this year and was going to use cellophane to wrap them up. But I am open to other options - so why not cellophane and what else are / have you used?
  • In all honesty - I don't really know. I just thought it would save the hassle because if it didn't look perfect i'd end up throwing the whole lot out the window :D
I'd def. get some silver tissue paper to put in the bottom.

Is it easy to cellophane? Where would I get it from & how would I go about getting the right size?

  • Shouldnt have gone on M&S website, sooo many lovely thing!! Also I finished Twelve Days of Christmas today, I loved it!! So christmassy, thanks for the recommendation snugglebunny! :j Does anyone have any more recommendations for truly christmassy reads? :)

so glad you loved it! I do like the Amy Silver one 'All I want for Christmas' but there are 4 new Christmas paperbacks due out this week (25th) so will see what they are like, hopefully they will be in stores this week, they are already available on Amazon.

Once Upon A Christmas Ive just realised is a Mills and Boon, it's quite 'nice' but quite predictable, although I am enjoying it and there is snow! :D

I went into town to pick up my 3 M&S orders, not too pleased as was 9.45 (so not like I was there the dot they opened) but one of my orders they hadn't booked in, there was no apology and she seemed a bit irritated, I got a 'well we keep it for a week' expecting me to go back another day, not really why I ordered them all to arrive at the same time! so have to go back which is annoying as costs time and petrol

I managed to get the Musical Christmas Tree biscuit tin, its really lovely and you can use it without taking teh biscuits out, not sure til I open it how airtight it would be once biscuits out of their bag though, but really pretty.
  • I think you may have converted me!
I didnt realise it was so cheap, will give it ago with the square basket.. knowing me.. by christmas everything will be cellophaned :D even stuff that doesn't need to be! I will still have to add my 3D snowflakes, they are too cute not to put on - also my OH said i'd never find a use for them & that they were a waste of money - now I have proved him wrong!

    Thank you again xxx

  • Have a look at The Outsiders, think it's about £7 on Amazon. It's a 12 & I studied it at school at about the same age & it's my fave ever film. (helped that it had Rob Lowe to drool over :rotfl:).

I second that! and Rob Lowe too ... :D

my DS loves Beverly Hills Cop, Naked Gun, Airplane and stuff like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon, and Bond :) I saw the Bond DVD's are £3 each in S'burys
