I love that - Monopoloy know what they are doing releasing all these different kinds - I have 4 versions upstairs already but this would be lovely to bring out with the Xmas stuff every year..*tempted*

I love reading this thread, it's making me feel so christmassy - although I am so jealous of all of you who have a Primark nearby! It's a fair old trek for me to get to one, so I will need to wait till we go on our annual shopping trip through to Glasgow and buy stuff then :D

I found the 20% code for the Works this morning - the site was flipping slow but I got there in the end :D

My bargain of the week was paying £2 to enter a lucky dip competition and winning a Lego Friends advent calendar :T My Disney stuff has arrived as well (20% off a £60 spend) so I'm practically done with all the kids stuff :)

  • Urgh, I think royal mail should sign up to mse. Card through my door tuesday for a parcel theyd tried to deliver, giving me a sorting office 10mile away to collect from. Took an hours leave yesterday to go fetch it, only to be told it wasnt there and id have to go to the "other" sorting office, 15 miles in opposite direction grrr. Knew i was expecting another parcel so spoke with my neighbour who i know is home all day, and we agreed i would leave a note on my door which clearly asked for any parcels to be left with this neighbour. Got home today to another card telling me to collect from sorting office again! Note was still visably taped to door at eye level, and my neighbour said she has been in all day, saw postman come but didnt see he had a parcel otherwise she would of gone out. So thats more time off work, and more petrol to fetch another parcel cos bloody royal mail are to lazy to walk 10 yards to neighbours, or cant read! I reakon i could have brought most of my stocking fillers with the money they have wasted me in last 3 days! Sorry, rant over, going to relax with a christmas mag now....(breaths) :rudolf:
...yet we have the 'opt-out' sticker from RM stuck on the window about an inch above the letter box and RM still insist on leaving parcels with the neighbour!!

And until we had the sticker they happily returned stuff to the collection office.

    I don't get it!!!! :(

    Hello, delurker alert lol :j

If I remember there is a part on the back of the card where you can request the item be redelivered to an alternate address. I'm not sure if you do this on line or by posting back the card. You can also pay 50p to get it sent to a post office that's near you. Saves the hassle/expense of travelling miles to collect!

Damsel In Distress we love Monopoly too, the only problem is, the looks on their little faces when they know they are out if you (evil landlord mother) make them pay the full rent on your hotel on Mayfair just kills you ... so you let them off and they morph into Gordon Gekko and thrash you!

I am like that, I'm too soft. Hubby, on the other hand plays to win, every time......he is a worse loser than the kids :rotfl:

For those of you looking for nice Xmas mugs, Halfcost have some snowmen mugs at the mo for £1 - buy five for the price of four. So you could get 12 for £10 - there might even be a discount code knocking around.

    http://www.halfcost.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=11&productId=52427&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10401&categoryId=10410&cache_entry=-1

Should add it is free delivery for orders of £10+

Edit: it appears you can 12 for £8 or 15 for £10
  • haven't read back yet but found this and thought it was a good idea for movie night hampers, elf activity.. or even if you're feeling xmassy..

    http://my-gardenofeden.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/christmas-popcorn.html

OF course you could always use the microwave popcorn, unseal one end and put food dye in, seal it back up with selotape and nuke as normal (not staples remember! lol)

    Totally debt free wohooo 2014

I've just caught up! Can you all stop posting now, as I'm going out for my tea. Normal service will be resumed later.

Have bought my mums fave soap today. And my dads fave toffee. And some cheap vodka. Am going to do kola kube vodka for my step dad. Do I need to make room in the freezer? It's just a small bottle but I would like to decant into something prettier. Or do you just soak off the label and make your own?

Thankyou very much for this I did think oh but I won't need that many but I've just had to admit that my other idea for Christmas presents for the lush lot were too expensive and this is a better idea with snowman soup. It also means that I don't have to spend a pound of my secret santa budget on a cup caus I'll just use a free one

Just added up the people I need to do pressies for and I've got 14  so little snowman soups are ideal :A:rotfl:

But it doesn't look much! I'm no good at jams or preserves so any other ideas of cheap little homemade gifts I could inc staying with the grandparent theme? Thanks in advance

LOL I used to like Monopoly as a child but as I get older I find I get more and more impatient and now Monopoly drives me absolutely loopy! I can't bear playing it but luckily DD is old enough to play it with DS now, although it causes huge arguments.

I can't stand Monopoly. It just goes on tooooooo long.

Most people only decant it if they are making a number of small bottles. I would use the bottle it came in. No point spending more money on another bottle.

Not sure about freezing it. I know the werthers one thickens up in the freezer, but don't know about cola cubes.
