I can't wait to start decorating my house - we moved into our first house earlies this year and so need to plan where I'm going to put the tree (complete with tinsel as I agree with a previous poster who says it reflects the fairy lights and makes it twinkly) and what places I can put additional decorations.

Just finished my BiL's presents (awaiting delivery this week) and have ordered the obligatory jelly beans for OH so almost there!

Not sure if anyone else does this or its just me,,,we normally put the tree up on the 1st of december (This year its the sunday the 2nd as DS is out on the saturday). We normally put the tree and dec up and then watch an xmas film with some nibbles. Last year I made a nice tea for us and got in the festive mood. This year we have the addition of an elf as well so we need to fit him in our day.

Ive just found out there is a company up here in newcastle who have a team of real elves ;) who deliver the kids pjs on xmas eve and any other bits eg ur hampers. Its a fab idea!!!!

Next has loads of nice Christmas stuff up on the website.

Someone mentioned a fake fur Christmas tree from there earlier, and I thought it sounded bizarre. But it's actually really cute! I want one.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi all,

I was thinking I would get Charity gifts this year (was thinking of the 'virtual type, but don't think my family would approve) - most charities have gift catalogues for Christmas, was wondering if anyone could recommend gooduns? Looking at Born Free, RSPCA, RSPB...so far so good

Awww thanks hun, He is only 4 and is getting bullied by a another child. Other child is disabled (problem with his leg)and his mother seems to have forgot how to teach him right from wrong. DS who is a nervous quiet child got punched in the face last week and has been getting hit and punched by him for a few weeks. Don't blame the bully child as he has learnt of his mam who I know is being watched by social services for hitting him. Its had a huge impact on DS who is now hitting, punching and being very disruptive at home. He's been getting up at 4am everyday and causing mayhem....oh the joys lol x

poor you and poor him! it's horrible as a mother when this sort of thing happens, we had something similar a few years back and it seemed very much that they expected us to be understanding of the child's issue, which I politely didnt accept - doesnt give him the right to hurt another child just because he has issues himself as far as I was concerned.

I hope things settle down soon for you, I know what an awful feeling it is!

I love the idea of the company sending real elves round! what a brilliant idea!

I know what people mean about tinsel, I like the really thick shimmery white tinsel, and I have a thick dark green one with fabric holly leaves that I bought years ago which I wind down the bannisters which is lovely, but I don't like the thin stuff at all!

I do however have an obsession with fairy lights, fibre optic lights, those great LED ones in a string that are battery operated ... anything that twinkles is fine by me! :D it ends up like Santa's grotto in our house!
