My mum was brought up with strict aunts as she was abandoned by her mother as a baby (long story and not very Christmassy). Anyway she is eighty in November, my dad is also eighty. Anyway she said a while back she had never had a stocking so my son and myself have decided on a Christmas stocking for each of them. We thought of sugar mice with string tails and 'wartime' type gifts as well as some ice grips for shoes that we got them earlier in the year. So thoughts......?

Definitely need to include chocolate coins, clementine and nuts.
Last year at the dump recycling centre (or the dump shop as it is known to me) i found one of these

    I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!

anyway they are really just for decoration, I'd not like to risk breaking it actual nut cracking. But as the months went on I found a couple little wooden nutcracker tree decorations and in fact they sold them in Poundland last year. I cant find any online (though I haven't searched eBay) but this is the kind of thing I bet would go down nicely. We always have a new Christmas tree ornament in our Christmas eve hamper but i will often put them in family's stockings if i am making them.

Also I think it is a really lovely idea.

I probably wouldn't buy too many "nik naks" I'd try and do things as practical as possibe. Socks and gloves always go down well, little hottie's? possibly a puzzle book or a cheap DVD.

If you order a wall calender or photo flip book etc then the upload fee for those should be free (as they require prints..) & then you can use them on other things eg T shirts afterwards with no upload fee.

Sometimes it's cheaper to do a calendar to get the "free" upload & then order the things you want (that otherwise you'd pay umpteen upload fees for...) ;)

    (For vistaprint site)

Artscow - an american site is also quite good...awaiting 1st order back from them but they have tons of stuff you can put a photo on

  • Hello all!

Hope you don't mind me joining in. Now I'm back from my summer holiday, I can concentrate on Christmas.

I haven't bought anything yet or even really planned much for it. I do, however, currently have £100 worth of points in my consumer pulse account, £15 on my B00ts Ad card and £19 in Amaz0n thanks to SB so plenty to but all my pressies with.

I'm going to spend this weekend making birthday cards for birthdays up to Christmas so I can concentrate on making Christmas cards soon.

Will catch up on the thread when I can and look out for all your ideas and advice.xxx
