Sadly the sister is just saying that she stands behind her husband. Which I suppose is fair enough and what we all do.
This too shall pass.
17 yearsmust be awful for you all.

I wouldnt recommend The Magic of Christmas by the same author though, as I found out after I started it that it's a re-issue of one of her older books with a bit tacked on the end (a page!) of Christmas, I think they were cashing in on the popularity of Twelve Days!
I've got a bit of an issue with the stroppiness of some of her characters generally tho!
Christmas at The Cupcake Cafe is on my list, think its available for pre order? also on my list is Winter Wonderland by Belinda Jones, shes one of my absolute favourite writers so it should be good if her other books are anything to go by
Jilly Cooper writes brilliant Christmas day scenes
I might read Twelve Days then Snugglebunny - and unfortunately you're right, these xmas books are big business now, another American import!0 -

Not sure what they're doing now, but these two had a bit of a romantic story of their own. They were commissioned by a publisher to write a book of two halves (Come Together)- his view and her view, a romance. They didn't know each other. a year later they were married!
ETA: I just looked and they are now married with 3 daughters, and she has just started to write solo books under the name Jo Rees.0 -

there is a lot of recipes in it, but they are american so most of the ingredients were unidentifable, to me at least! :rotfl:
dont know whats going on around here, but the hubby is well into christmas mode, i should be estatic, but im actually confused!
while he will talk about christmas, when i suggest a toy for the kids he usualy says 'we'll get it nearer the time'. but yesterday he made me sit down and we composed an 'official' list of things to get them!
he then ordered the wii games ds1 wants and also his birthday presents (29th december).
he has said he wants me to start picking one or two up a week :T
what with him accusing me of 'slacking' the other week and now this?! im concerned that hes been posessed or something!
hope hes like this next year and ill be used to it and be able to enjoy his eagerness
if anyone is ordering toys online this year, i can recommend smyths toys, especialy for the delivery service.
i put in an order at 10pm wednesday night and recieved a email on thurs saying it would be delivered today.
this morning i recieved another email telling me my delivery driver was called dave (always good to know :rotfl:) and my parcel would be with me between 13.18 and 14.18. very random timings i know!
and would you belive it? dave turned up at 13.22 :T
i was very impressed, saved waiting in for it not to arrive!
If my DH ever said any of that stuff I would be SERIOUSLY worried, and probably seek medical help :rotfl::eek::rotfl:
If you can pinpoint how you have converted yours would you mind sharing please?
On the subject of Smyths: I had a very different experience last year much nearer to Christmas when they (and I was) were working under pressure. They completely messed up my order for the main thing on DS3's (then 6) list to Santa (ie from the big man himself)- which sent me into a panic that my cover would be blown as it was then OOS everywhere. I ended up taking a chance on some company I found on ebay who came through with it. To say I was relieved was an understatement!
I know ordering early would have stopped this but little one always waits till the last minute to decide what he would like Santa to bring- aaaargh!* Ebay- 1 Bag a Day *0 -
I think the Marvel avengers assemble box set has arrived....can't open it at the moment!!0

I thought I was doing OK when I had all my family's presents wrapped and delivered on 1st Sept.
Seriously there is another reason behind doing it that way. I have faced so much heartbreak at Christmas over the years that that doing things like writing cards and wrapping presents becomes very difficult if it is left to December. Getting everything done out of season makes it so much easier to face. I can spend an evening or two wrapping presents in August but it is a mental and emotional struggle in December.
I suppose I have a sort of Christmas phobia as I avoid most things linked to a commercialised Christmas even avoiding some shops in December. However, I do look around for the after Christmas bargains and collect those ready for the following year. That is how I can be so organised in September.

Also Rusilip Lido do special Santa trains which are lovely. TBH the special effects arent up to much lol but its a lovely (cheap) journey with mince pies/tea included and a gift for your child. Its lovely going through the woods in the lovely cold winter air and seeing Father Christmas waving at the station as you pull in.No details are up yet but should be after the halloween event is over (how scary does that look!!) http://www.ruisliplidorailway.org/events
Also Windsor have a gorgeous old fashioned merry go round and ice skating.
Oooh I live near Maidenhead, thanks for this will defo pop along! I've only just moved near Maidenhead so I was looking for things to do!
My OH and I go to the ice skating rink at Windsor every year, we love it!
