  • Its a very good deal if you are buying things anyway. :) No Disney cookie tins in my Poundland yet but they didnt have much yet tbh. :)

The cookie tins were with the normal food in my pound land not the Xmas stuff

  • Hi Everyone
No Christmas stuff for today but ive got a child free day tomorrow once ive dropped the kids at dancing at 10 so i'm going to hit Wilkos (again) and a couple of pound shops (really want a couple of the Disney biscuit tins). Might try Disney shop as well.

I was going to go into the card factory as well to buy my 'nice' cards for hubby, mum etc but found a bag from god knows when with them all in.

Really really want the shops to start putting out the Christmas decorations and catalogues, then i'll be happy x

  • Am looking forward to Boots Christmas Book coming out especially as can use points to pay online now :-)
  • Half way through catching up the last 3 days of posts so sorry if this has already been mentioned, Noel the christmas film with Susan Sarandon is on channel 5 every year on the run up to Christmas - just in case you want to watch it before buying it!

  • the christmas cookie club was really boring in my opinion! a friend bought me it a few months ago (20p in the works) as she knows i love christmas!
there is a lot of recipes in it, but they are american so most of the ingredients were unidentifable, to me at least! :rotfl:

dont know whats going on around here, but the hubby is well into christmas mode, i should be estatic, but im actually confused!
while he will talk about christmas, when i suggest a toy for the kids he usualy says 'we'll get it nearer the time'. but yesterday he made me sit down and we composed an 'official' list of things to get them!
he then ordered the wii games ds1 wants and also his birthday presents (29th december).
he has said he wants me to start picking one or two up a week :T
what with him accusing me of 'slacking' the other week and now this?! im concerned that hes been posessed or something!

hope hes like this next year and ill be used to it and be able to enjoy his eagerness :)

if anyone is ordering toys online this year, i can recommend smyths toys, especialy for the delivery service.
i put in an order at 10pm wednesday night and recieved a email on thurs saying it would be delivered today.
this morning i recieved another email telling me my delivery driver was called dave (always good to know :rotfl:) and my parcel would be with me between 13.18 and 14.18. very random timings i know!
and would you belive it? dave turned up at 13.22 :T
i was very impressed, saved waiting in for it not to arrive!

  • Aww thanks for your good wishes guys, it is really appreciated. Will feel better once I know what's next and dates involved etc.

My worst nightmare is having the op and being laid up recovering just before xmas. I can't deny that I am a xmas control freak, and the thought of relying on everyone else and things not being done as I do them just fills me with dread.

Kaymumof3 - I am really sorry to hear about your sad news, the memory table sounds like a lovely thing to do. I love hot choc, so thanks for the heads up about the gingerbread one, SiL lives 1 minute from a Morrisons so I have asked her to keep an eye out

Posession - Thanks for the book list, I am going to order Secret Shopper unwrapped. On the subject of books, my mate has just been round with a book present she thought would cheer me up, but its more 50 shades style than xmas.... :-O

I'm so sorry for your loss Kay.

Christmas book wise, I read this a few years ago. It is a very fluffy romantic comedy set at Christmas and I really enjoyed it - not complicated or heavy reading but perfect to read in the bath.

All the gift shopping is done, I am a bit irked because I was incredibly organised and found a good fabric sale so I bought all the fabric I would need to make my nephews gifts for next Christmas (:o:cool::o) while I had Paypal funds from ebay so technically no money would be spent. But my BIL, their father, is trying to start a family feud over something quite unpleasant with my DH (BIL has done something horrible and rather than apologising has gone on the offensive) and I am suspicious he is about to cut off contact. I hate it that his behavious affects the kids.

Still to do: make two shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (and sort out getting them to the drop off point without having to set foot inside the tambourine-toting church that is our local centre), write all the cards, one Secret Santa gift, prepare the Advent calendar, write the meal plan, wrap the gifts and All Systems Go!
Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
    Three gifts left to buy

Optimistic Mum- You are doing well with your list.

SugarSpun - I hope BiL realises what an idiot hev is being before its too late. My DH has 3 sisters and for the last 17 years, the eldest one has had nothing do with any of us on BiLs say so.

He also had done some horrible things and went on the defensive and cut everyone off and changed their phone number etc.

We tried to rise above it and I went round with xmas presents for their kids only to have a front door slammed in my face. I really hope your BiL can see sense because I would hate anyone to be in the same position as us. Can you get anywhere with Sister? Thinking of you. Xx
