Possesion - I ould love to have a hallowee party. Only started getting into the last couple of years, but never do much - bit of trick ad treatig and pumpkin craving. Last year was the first year we actually had decoratios eyond the pumpkin (only have a few though). Made a couple of things this morning and hoping to get a few bits after Halloweeen so hoping to uild on my collection. We are in a block of flats so never get any trick or treaters here :(

We're in a house but still get barely any trick or treaters, there aren't that many children of the right age I don't think. I had a halloween party a few years ago when we were a lot better off financially, and I have lots of stuff in the loft I think. Planning on apple bobbing for sure, and make your daddy a mummy with value toilet roll, but will need to think up some other ideas, and also stop DD's friends from killing DS's friends!

I think I'm pretty much done xmas wise apart from hamper makes. Famous last words!

Just ordered some moshi things on toys r us 3 for 2 with free delivery. These are for my girls from their aunt who is dead pleased. [which i put thru TCB1] One of my main issues it that it is dd1's bday in early Jan as well and it's hard in the sense that i want her to have useful things than something for the sake of it.
disaster today ..dd2 is now allowed the shop and loves nipping out for milk etc. She is so used to me checking out the bargains that she bought 2 lots of large milk as it was offer and she thought it would be a bargain. I also asked her to pick up a free leaflet but if confused to not worry. The leaflet was next to an air freshner priced at £2.99 which she thought you had to buy to get the leaflet so bought it. I was mad as the air freshner is 39p in HB. I hadn't the heart to scream at her as she thought she was being a true money saver! Can't take it back as no receipt. So my £1 pint of milk cost me £6.50!
Don’t put it down - put it away!

  • I've got my gran a cup for her birthday (26th dec) but don't know what to put with it!! Only spend between 5-10 on her bday any ideas?
    :santa2: :rudolf:
    :D
  • I managed to get to poundland today- quite a bit of Halloween stuff. I bought some nice 'Happy Halloween' window clings. and DS3 got a plastic scythe that I though was small (which is why I said yes) turns out it comes with a 5ft screw together pole!

They have also started putting out the Christmas stuff- I could hear people saying OMG Christmas already, when my basket was half full of stuff! :o

Anyway, I bought a snowman and a penguin wind sock twirly things and two small porcelain snowman decorations (like I don't have enough) that I may use for a snow globe.
I also went into TK Max but they didn't even have any Halloween stuff in. :(

Do you think your gran would like edible, drinkable or smelly?
Try to narrow it down and maybe work from there?

    Oh bless her!
I guess you just have to explain that it is only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway ;)

    Hiya :)
Hubby's avengers came this morning :) - he also leaves me sticky notes every day on the headboard lol so I used up £2 of an amazon gift voucher to get a pack of those for his stocking and that is him now complete.
I would have liked to have got him an avengers mug/money box but his budget is exhausted (and so is mine) so maybe I will look out for one in the Jan sales and keep it for Father's day.
Apart from 2 scratch cards and 2 selection boxes I am done!

We were going to go out to Hungry Horse for Christmas lunch on Christmas eve (£15per head with a free drinks voucher) and then have a buffet Christmas day to save on cooking but people have said to me that I probably wont feel up to that especially if I go overdue so rather than waste a deposit and risk ending up with no Christmas dinner we are going to plan to stay home instead and hubby is going to cook :D we are opting for a roast beef!
Roast Beef is a real luxury for us, we have never ever cooked one at home as they are so expensive. Neither are fussed on poultry really so this will be a nice treat.
Hubby says he doesn't mind cooking and seems to have also been taken over by aliens as he has agreed to me buying in a little each fortnight with the food shopping, stuffing here, custard there and keeping in the cupboard so we have less to spend nearer the time!
He never agrees to this kind of thing  what is going on with the men folk :T
I will sit down this week and write a list of what we will need. I might cheat a bit to make life easier for him by buying in frozen roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings things like that.
We always go to M&S every Christmas and buy bucks fizz (theirs is the best) and a Christmas gingerbread man each (that totals £6!!) and then we each chose something luxurious food wise to make it up to £10 - it is a tradition. I just got a £10 m&s voucher from valued opinions which is being saved for that purpose :j :j

Does anybody else not have turkey on christmas day?
Do you have any unusual traditions?

And on a final note is it just me who can really feel the weather changing? I am convinced we are going to have a particularly harsh winter but hubby doesn't agree.
It has NEVER EVER snowed on Christmas day in my lifetime where I live (south east) i doubt it will this year either but that would so make everything perfect for me :)

We had m&s vouchers last year when we got our sky put in so we have £50 to spend on our bucks fizz etc but we did treat ourselves and got 2 pieces of fillet steak for xmas eve lol that was £18 of the vouchers spent. Like yourselves beef to us is a luxury. Its something we never really have. When I was growing up we only had beef on New Years as my mam made a huge meal for the family. This year its turkey and our xmas ham we do in the slow cooker. Our butcher is really good and lets us put money away when we have it for xmas and he normally throws in some sausages for free.

This week has been pretty cold but today (in the north east) its been 24 degress lol I was boiling! I think its snowed on xmas possibly 3/4 times in 27 years up here. Last year santa went into my DS nursery and when he arrived it started snowing. I had always told him snow ment he was on his way....was lovely to see his face light up.

By the way GOOD LUCK to all running the GREAT NORTH RUN!!! You run past my house just before you get to the sea front. We will be cheering you on!!!! Just took the dog for a walk and everything is set up for a fantastic day! Im so looking forward to seeing the red arrows, they fly super low over the house!
PPI Claims won £3000:j now free of all credit card debt after 10 years.

Will I win my Lloyds battle!!!

Currently saving for our wedding and what seems like a million other things":)
