  • Just in case anyone is near me Maidenhead have a free event on 8th december where they have real reindeer and a lantern procession, not many details at the mo. http://www.enjoymaidenhead.com/events-and-offers/events/reindeer-and-santa-on-maidenhead-high-street.aspx It was magical being so near them last year. :)
Also Rusilip Lido do special Santa trains which are lovely. TBH the special effects arent up to much lol but its a lovely (cheap) journey with mince pies/tea included and a gift for your child. Its lovely going through the woods in the lovely cold winter air and seeing Father Christmas waving at the station as you pull in. :) No details are up yet but should be after the halloween event is over (how scary does that look!!) http://www.ruisliplidorailway.org/events
Also Windsor have a gorgeous old fashioned merry go round and ice skating. :)
Making me homesick...im a Slough girl living up north, used to love going home just before Chrimbo and going into Windsor and cold walks around Burnham Beeches..Mum passed away at Christmas last year so wont be same this year.:( My brother has a tiny place in Maidenhead so can't crash there..nearly had heart failure at booking room locally..Will miss it so much xx

Windsor and Burnham Beeches are lovely! Only recently discovered Burnham Beeches (shamefully after living here 7 years!) and love it. So sorry that you lost your mum. :( I hope your christmas will be full of wonderful memories of your mum and Im sure she will be looking over you. xxx Have you looked at slough travelodge, I just looked from 23-27th December and its £23.50 a night! x

  • BIG :grouphug: to all who need it.
I have to say when I read about all the stuff life throws at you I seem soo stupid for getting wound up and ranting over little non-important things.

    we always count sleeps.

    ohhhh lovely hubbby.

    just in time.
I have 1 chapter left in Madeline Wickham (sophie Kinsella in disguise) "wedding girl" - which typically was fantastic and highly recommended - and was thinking i need a wintry/ christmas book to start next.

Tho I should't buy any more books so gonna look thro my stash and hope I have one. If not might have to treat myself.

I read a fab book last year (i think it was) but am stumped to the name and author which makes searching for it quite tricky.

It had a light blue cover. the girl on the front was making a snow angel. I am sure it had the word three or third or something similar in the title.
The girl basically ended up on an island and met a bloke in a pub and it was really not much of a storyline now i try to remember it but when you are reading you can get lost in it and its cosy and loving and christmassy and you can feel the log fire.

    Anyone?

ETA: I have most of Terry Pratchetts Discworld books on my shelf to read but have read Hogswatch and Wintersmith - anyone know if any of the others are wintry/ christmassy?
Was the main character heavily pregnant?
  • If anybody is near Chester zoo they are doing a lantan light thing or Xmas!! Can't really remember much about it but it sounds lovely!! It's on there website under the Xmas set!!
