So that's where I'm atHope you are all feeling organised, would be interested to hear if anyone else is going 'homemade' this year?
x
I made a few homemade gift sets last year which included tomato chutney, spicy nuts and chocolate hazelnut spread which went down quite well.
I'm not going to do too much this year as there's lots of other gifts I want to buy, but I am considering doing a few jars of caramelised onion chutney and maybe marmalade for a few people. I also found a nice recipe for home made fudge that I think my autnite might like. I've got a recipe for spiced biscuits to hang on the tree which i'd like to make too this year. I'm saying i'm not going to do too much but I expect I will shut myself away in the kitchen and make lots of Christmassy treats! :rotfl:0 -

I too have felt the excitement of seeing christmas stock out on the shelves recently, It was only B&M but i actually jumped up and down :j Haha, My best friend i was with at the time gave me the obligatory look of disgust and actually told me that i made her feel sick for even considering christmas at this time of year and took it upon herself to remind me for the 5 minutes that i dragged her up and down the two isles of xmas stuff they had out, that is was still summer and we should be in the bbq isle (it was raining) :rotfl:
I cant wait for DS to go back to school and all the shops to get really christmassy, I can spend hours looking/shopping and making mental notes of what i'm going to buy!
They also have the Halloween stuff out in a few places, Which also excites me, I really enjoy halloween, we decorate the house and watch a few child aimed 'scary' movies and then when he goes to bed me and a few friends normally pull out the hardcore stuffLast year i watched IT for the first time, I still have nightmares now!
Sorry, I seem to have gone a bit off topic , Im just so desperate for xmas to arrive i think im clinging onto every available up coming occasion so i can have yet more things to do/organise! Lol!Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -

I'm all caught up now , Though there are SO many things i want to comment on but there's just to many fabulous things that i forgot where i was up to after the first few, So instead ill just say ; Welcome to all the new people, It's lovely having yet more like minded people to chat to and hopefully help each other out in the lead up to Christmas
Also Congrats to CarlaMaria on the new baby, I hope everything goes well for you and you made me laugh out loud when i read 'slacking, NEVER!' :rotfl:
I absolutely LOVE the disney advent calender on the link my3girls posted so thanks for that, I didn't even know they did a calender like that and even though i've got DS a playmobil one, It was such a a huge bargain i think i may get one of these ones as well and fill it with sweets and maybe the odd free activity we can do together, for £12 it seems brilliant and although only cardboard, If it's looked after properly i can't see any reason it couldn't last for years to come. Hopefully they'll have it in store as well? I don't really fancy paying £4.95 for postage:eek: . When i think of all the other christmassy things i could spend £4.95 on it seems like a lot of money :rotfl:
I can admit quite shamefully that i have done...Nothing towards christmas in the past week, Any spare money i had, had to go towards uniform for DS' return to school this week and i think i have been left with about 1p on my bank account (Im to afraid to check) :rotfl:
I bought Disney advent calendar last year, its the same one with slightly different pics on it - it's very strong and tough, should last years, the boxes have enough room for couple of small gifts, such as the little Lindt reindeer, choccy coins, erasures etc - you can fit in something like a Thorntons choccy lolly if you leave it open a bit, or else put a note in and put the gift on the tree, but find the boxes are nice and roomy. It was £15 last year and they sold out by December as I recall, hope that helps, would really recommend getting it - theres free p+p over £50 if you know anyone else who you could join orders with perhaps? x0 -

Baby 1st Christmas bauble on Disney Store is just lovely this year!
Thanks I'll have a look at Disney store in a minute.
Congratulations to all those expecting their own little miracle0 -
great to hear all the stuff in your shops! nothing in Sainsburys near us yet - it's the only thing that cheers me up in September while Im mourning the end of summer, onset of horrible weather (hmm - like the summer was nice!) and missing the kids when they go back to school, always makes me feel sad
DD had friends round today so house full of cheerful teens which cheered me up, took DS out for little bite as a treat cos hes back tomorrow, I miss them so much when they go back, sob!0 -
just gotta post this before I forget (then I'll read back on what I've missed today).
well after saying I was going to look for a christmas notebook I resisted. HOWEVER what I did get was an index card folder (just under £2) - it's like a very tiny 2 hole ring binder and has 5 index dividers and 50 index cards. Plus I got some more index cards - pre punched to fit - (about 75p a pack ish).
I thought I could use the dividers to split it up into "pressie ideas"/ "pressies bought", "christmas food ideas" something like thatt. it's small and light enough to keep in my bag. and can be re-used every year simply by filing this years at the back and buying more index cards if required.
right off to catch up.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

DD1 went out with my mum and dad today so took dd2 to do 'jobs'
She was so good. We went the library for her to do this book challenge and out for a mystery shop lunch. Our New look is closing down so i picked up a few bits for her big sister inc nail files etc.
Came home to find i'm due a tax rebate so can get myself up to date with bills and spemd a little on bargains.
Then we went to card factory. DD2 asked if she could have a lipstick pen. I told her no as it had Charlotte on it. Where? she asks. Comes back with her name on and asks again. LOL - even cashier was chuckling!
I'm Me to you/moshi bargain scouting. But i need to check what i've already stashed on wardrobe and get the girls to start writing santa list.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Hi All
Ooooh feeling very excited by all this talk of xmas stock appearing in shops, I will have a mooch around at lunchtime tomorrow.
Well today has been a fab day. Work have finally done our xmas rota and finally confirmed that I am on holiday on Xmas Eve.
Without sounding like a big drama queen, I was so happy I seriously wanted to cry as we always make a massive deal of xmas eve as a family, with hampers, making a gingerbread house, going out of tea etc. Its our family day, and this year it did look as if I might have to work it and I have been getting really stressed about it.
(I am working 27th, 28th, 31st etc, but I am absolutely not bothered)
I also collected the Rotary bargain watch I reserved for hubby at Argos and its amazing. I am so pleased.
I still have one awkward xmas topic to sort and that's whether or not the in laws want to do secret santa again.
We all did it for the first time last year. It was our Bil's suggestion and we hated it, as did MiL. I know it's very money saving and MSE but tbh for us it just felt weird not giving everyone something, even if its a small token gesture.
Even though hubby and I were tempted just to buy something for everyone anyway, we didn't and we just purchased for the person assigned to each of us, but MiL did buy everyone something anyway so it never really "worked".
My hubbys family don't see xmas the way I do, and won't even discuss xmas till Dec, so at the moment we are having to work on the principle that we are buy them all a gift, and if that's not the case and we so Secret Santa again, then I will just have a few items for my pressie drawer, or ready early for their birthdays.
It would be nice to know though so I can plan.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0
