NickyBo/ ShonaM - I have lurked on pinterest. But it is tooooooooo addictive - one pin at 8pm leads to another board.... to another board.......... to another...... and before you know it its 1am. :rotfl:
don't know if anyones doing sweetie hampers for girls/ women but wilkison have a new (?) notebook/ file etc range out with sweets on (I loved em). http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/search?q=*&parentCategoryRef=sweetshop&sort=name&order=asc
Charley1234. a quick google looks as if the 'christmas' films this year are: The Hobbit, Tinkerbell and something or other (re-release?), muppets christmas carole (re-release) and Nativity 2: danger in the manger.
Snugglebunny8 disneyland at any time of year is on my list but with 1 adult and 2 kids needing new passports + mine due to end soon. It's looking unlikly any time soon as thats £400 before you even start on flights/ accomodation/ spending money
YAY tho - have booked a caravan (bargain £114 for 4 nights) in blackpool at the end of the month to take the kids to see the illuminations. Hubby can't get time off so my mums gonna come with us. :T
msgigglewick. christmas in September sounds brill. I remember (ouch 11 years ago) when my, then, boyfriend went off to uni my parents also were going away for a weekend so we clubbed together with friends and had a chrsitmasday (complete with trees, crackers and pressies) before he left.
went to a car boot sale on Sunday and there were 4 christmas trees for sale. one stall had loads of christmassy bits (but they were nasty - not just tacky but actual cr4p!! they were playing christmas music
Thank you to whoever (sorry missed it) posted the £30 off £60 ISME info (i think it was on here). I've been after a new digital camera for ages and this made it a fantastic price.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Hi All
Ooooh feeling very excited by all this talk of xmas stock appearing in shops, I will have a mooch around at lunchtime tomorrow.
Well today has been a fab day. Work have finally done our xmas rota and finally confirmed that I am on holiday on Xmas Eve.
Without sounding like a big drama queen, I was so happy I seriously wanted to cry as we always make a massive deal of xmas eve as a family, with hampers, making a gingerbread house, going out of tea etc. Its our family day, and this year it did look as if I might have to work it and I have been getting really stressed about it.
(I am working 27th, 28th, 31st etc, but I am absolutely not bothered)
I also collected the Rotary bargain watch I reserved for hubby at Argos and its amazing. I am so pleased.
I still have one awkward xmas topic to sort and that's whether or not the in laws want to do secret santa again.
We all did it for the first time last year. It was our Bil's suggestion and we hated it, as did MiL. I know it's very money saving and MSE but tbh for us it just felt weird not giving everyone something, even if its a small token gesture.
Even though hubby and I were tempted just to buy something for everyone anyway, we didn't and we just purchased for the person assigned to each of us, but MiL did buy everyone something anyway so it never really "worked".
My hubbys family don't see xmas the way I do, and won't even discuss xmas till Dec, so at the moment we are having to work on the principle that we are buy them all a gift, and if that's not the case and we so Secret Santa again, then I will just have a few items for my pressie drawer, or ready early for their birthdays.
It would be nice to know though so I can plan.Im going to start applying for christmas jobs later on this week and am already stressing about possibly having to work christmas eve and the day the Christmas play is on! Probably wont even get a job lol! (Zero experience at all!)
I wouldnt like doing Secret santa either, one of OHs brothers said not to buy for adults the past 2 years but we never find out until the last minute so have pressies for him and SIL just in case! They leave the presents and cards behind if people still buy for them so no point giving them anyway iyswim. Will be a bit of a pain this year as his little gift is personalised socks lol!!'They only had one cow!'0 -
BBTHREE - I don't know if it helps but if secret santa is what people want to do. create another traditon that we had when we were little) which is tree presents.
These were small items (pens, small notebook, car) something that can be hung on the christmas tree.
after tea the children got to raid the tree (gently) and hand out the pressies to people. This way everyone could buy for everyone without spending stupid amounts.
It was lovely cause you'd had the hype of morning pressie opening and just finished the day off.
You don't have to put them on the tree. One year my nanna got a huge box - filled it with shredded paper - and buried them all in there.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

was in the Drs earlier and DS brought "Little Owl and the Star" over for me to read,
I fell in love - it is a brilliant re-telling of the nativity story and well worth adding to any collection.and with this seller (no i've never used them before/ cannot recommend/ am not affiliated with them) offering it NEW for £2.55 with free postage.............bargain!!loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. Evening, kids back to school tomorrow means I can get out all the bits and bob I have been hiding in the wardrobe, on top of the wardrobe, under the bed, cupboad under the stairs, airing cupboard etc. I am planning on getting our two suitcases down from the loft using one for son presents and the other for my daughters and putting them under the bed, hopefully they should fit.
I havent read the previous posts only just sat down as been to the coast today, it has been soooooooooo warm, but still I was thinking about Christmas whilst sitting on the beach watching the kids play. I have a cuppa so will read back.
I have made a start with my daughters present by getting so designabear bargins from argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9368004/Trail/searchtext%3EDESIGNABEAR.htm
I got the pink plush teddy, suitcase, tea set and 5 outfits for £32, most of it half price so saved nearly £30.:T
Whilst browsing for ideas for my brother who is 21 and has everything I was thinking of getting this to go with whatever else I can think of
http://www.hawkin.com/one-million-pound-note
And I am also getting these, hopefully you will all agree with me that these are just too cute, are they?
I am planning on using them as large wrapping and transporting gifts to peoples houses and for using on christmas day to put all the wrapping in, much better than a boring black bag that is in all the photos, I can picture the bin mens faces now!:rotfl:
Probably wont be telling the husband how much they cost though!!

Goodnight for now x0 -
Moneysavingmumofone - Good luck with the xmas job hunting. I had one years ago in Debenhams, and although it was busy and knackering I loved being around all the xmas shoppers.
I have also managed to book a half day for my DS's xmas play as that's earlier in December and so wasn't counted on the rota.
Chickywiggle - That sounds like an excellent way to handle the Secret Santa issue. I have bought that many bits and bobs that I could probably do this now without buying anything else.
Curiouscrafter - I LOVE those xmas pudding bin bags. DH also wouldn't appreciate what I would spend on them, but I am sorely tempted to get them.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -
I also meant to say that I have never seen "Nativity".
If its the one I think I saw advertised a while back, it has Martin Freeman in it. Am I on the right lines? Is it a comedy and should I order it?
I know "IMDB" could help right now and I am not trying to be lazy, but on anything xmas related I would rather seek the opinion of the xmas gurus on hereAims for 2014

Hi all
To those who are asking about nativity I was going to buy last year but it was on bbc2 I think around the 20th so may be worth waiting to see if it's on tv first?
I went to home base at the weekend and they had small colourful baskets (purple/blue) for £1.79 in the clearance section there were loads not sure if that helps anyone for hampers?
I am going to order tickets to the Christmas show today for me dh and ds today I hadn't realised they were on sale yet but I said the dh I want us to plan lots of trips things to do in December ( its our first anniversary on 17th) so thinking of booking a weekend away on the 15th somewhere in the uk but also somewhere I can go to a Christmas market :-) any suggestions welcome we are in south east (Sussex) I did think of Paris but not sure funds will stretch that far maybe just a French meal :-)0
