I am doing Holiday Houseworks, which starts tomorrow officially :) I will join in the six-week Christmas one once the time comes.

Edit: Ikea do reindeer pasta which might make a pasta hamper more festive.

    ahhhhhh I see. :p

ohhh cute.. thank you..... but no ikea :(

I'm back! Haskins (garden centre) had a few nice biscuit tins and some cute festive jelly bean containers but they hadn't even begun to start clearing the big space that their Christmas stuff goes in.
I felt like calling the manager over to remind him or her that they should be getting a move on! :rotfl:
I did manage to buy a few Yankee Candle wax tarts: red velvet, blissful autumn, kitchen spice and cranberry chutney- the last 2 were 20% off as fragrance of the month. :T

Hobbycraft didn't even have halloween stuff let alone Christmas- WHAT ARE THEY PLAYING AT?

I have used this site before and never had any problems!

The white bon bons look like snowballs ... Maybe you could use this to your advantage?

    Hi All

I have now caught up on all posts, and thanked each poster. I have loads of waffle in response but in case my phone dies I will spread it across a few posts.....

Lunar - I went back and looked at your xmas tree and it is gorgeous.

    Icemice - Happy belated birthday

Pips Mum - Thanks for Moshimonsters info

Rebel Hedgehog - Thanks for M&S heads up

My3girls - Thanks for Disney store heads up

Gleek - Not sure if I have actually said this yet but thank you for starting this thread. Without sounding too stupid I hope, its nice to have people who "get it" to discuss anything xmas related, however tenuous.

Everyone - I do read every single post, and I do thank every single post and find it genuinely interesting to hear how we are all progressing.

Right, End of post one. Will start post 2 now xxxx

Regarding gifts for parents.... Sadly my parents are no longer around, but what I used to do, was to have a couple shopping trips with my Mum and see what she liked and picked up and put down iyswim, and then would nip back and get it later when she had gone, as she had everything and was really awkward to buy for.

Regarding my gift from DH.... He is really kind and generous but very last minute and disorganised with my gift. He is a complete and utter gadget man, and unless I intervene I will end up getting a gadget again. Last year I got a kindle, the year before I got a new camera, the year before I got a new phone. Hmmm do you see a pattern forming here.

What I would prefer (but won't get) is some stuff that's more girly and pointless. For instance I have recently discovered Chanel Coco Mademoiselle so would love some more of that, and would love anything from Jo Malone, and nice box of choccies from Thorntons, and a few bath bombs from Lush would be a nice bonus. One thing he does always get me (which isn't a surprise) is when Boots have the Soap and Glory offer of the week, he orders it for me at silly o clock in the morning, and then I collect it from the store and give it to him to wrap. Sorry if I sound ungrateful, I love him very much, but would like a gadget free xmas pressie. Worryingly he has said that he already knows what he is getting me this year, so I am panicing already.

Regarding regifting - DD and DS have just come back from my MIL/SILs house, and they have given DD a silver ring that my SIL " didn't want and never liked". I guess they have forgotten it was my hubby and I that bought it for her two xmasses ago.

PrincessKitty29 - When we bought our house and moved in I didn't feel happy, I feel sick and worried and a bit pi@@ed off tbh. There was no real reason other than its a big change. I also had a similar reaction on my wedding day. Although I love my husband very much I didn't enjoy our wedding day at all. I found it all stressful and again I think it was such a big thing that it unsettled me. Anyway what I am trying to say is, it will pass and you will love the house soon
    :D

I totally understand, I wanted to discuss Christmas all year round but thought I'd irritate people starting lots of posts - so a chat thread seemed to be the way to do it :D I love that there's so many of us! :D :xmastree:

  • Feel a little bit guilty that I've not contributed much to the thread lately :( however I have been ploughing on with the seemingly endless task of my garden!
I keep playing catch up with all your great ideas...you have been busy!!:T

do you think it would be very strange to do a 'pasta hamper'?? I was going to do a family member a cooking hamper but thought this could be a bit different

    - different types of pasta
    - a few sauces
-i got a pasta spoon in poundland today
    - a weight watchers pasta recepie book (she follows it ..... does it matter if it's not a pro-points one??)
    any other ideas??

    Perhaps you could include:
sun dried tomatoes; bottle of olive oil; some spices e.g. basil - perhaps use seeds so they can grow their own?
    Stopped smoking 20th October 2012 :D

This year I will have something that resembles a garden and not a building site!
  • thanks Archiebear - I was just looking at some 'ready made' ones for ideas and they suggested these. I'm gonna start a proper list.
also thought i'd put a spaghetti measurer in.
