    Opinions please folks -

Its a Meccanno racecar set, too "young" for a 10 year old boy or OK still?

Its part of the 2 for £15 in Argos and I am buying another toy so figured I might as well get the offer if possible!

It depends on the child I think. My son (10) wouldn't be interested but TBH he's never been into Meccano. Of those toys he'd prefer the radio controlled car or the Air Hog flyer.

Thanks Possession I did look at the air flyer too, it got pants reviews though but I guess being harsh the actual play part is not my problem! LOL!

Just bought some tealights to sample the Christmas scents from Kringle Candle - http://www.kringlecandle.co.uk/holiday-favourites/

Does anyone have any feedback on any of the Christmasy ones? :)

  • hi Gleek! yes i bought most of those, for Christmas so havent unwrapped some - some have a little lid you can take off and replace but others have cellophane wrapped lid which you only take off when you use - the Kringle Cookie is lovely, sort of cinnamon and ginger, the Christmas Stroll is quite pine scented but in a good Christmas Tree way, not a toilet cleaner way!

the rest I cant smell too much through the packaging but seem very Christmassy.

The ones I bought in votives are Yankee candles - Christmas Cupcake (smells deliciously of cupcakes and frosting but with a slight vanilla, cinnamon tang, and Christmas Eve which is amazing - you can smell them in the room even with the packaging on!

there is one of the Kringles I wasnt so keen on as it smelt quite strongly of cloves, will get them out and check which it is, but that is just me (used oil of cloves when I had a tooth abcess years ago so I think thats why Im not keen on the smell)

Kringle service was first class, very impressed, I'm checking them out to see if they have summer/holiday/beach type scents now as I love the Yankee Ocean Stroll/Sun and Sand/Pink Sand and Coconut Bay

  • Woo Ive finally started to get a grip on my christmas plans, after having a real sort out a plan for what I am going to do!
I have ordered a few bits on ebay

I am still really good friends with the 5 girls that I used to work with up in Liverpool & we buy each other small gifts for christmas so this year I have had the idea of buying these sweet jars & filling them up nearer the time and then putting a nice big bow and personalized tag on them.
Since Ive got 10 jars in the bunddle, I can also give my brother one and my bf and his brother and put another in the hamper that I am making up for my mum and dad.

On the hamper I need to just get some other bits of food and then coffee & tea as thats the stuff my mum always forgets! Im also looking for a more teenage christmas film for the family to watch & I am desperate for the rudolf monopoly if it comes back on Amazon. Might get a bottle of Champagne when I see a decent offer, last year I mananged to get good deal in Morrisons around Nov so Im keeping my eyes pealed!!

Ive decided on some dvd box sets for my dad and brother so need to get them & Im looking for a small fishbowl style vase for my mum for a table centrepiece kind of thing.
Also I want to get some nice writing paper/note cards for my nan as she is forever sending me postcards so Id like to get her something pretty to write on!

Ramble over, I just have a question for those with little girls, my god daughter will be 5 come christmas and I dont see her as much any more with living down south and Im not sure of what sorts of toys kids that age like?! I got her lots of stuff when she was a baby & last year I went down the cooking route and got a kids cooking kit and apron etc and for her last birthday I did the doctors dress up & kit.
I like the theme sort of thing for all the presents, so would a dress up kit and toys to match be ok?
I tend to get little bangles and hair bands too cos shes very girly!

    Thanks!! :)
  • Got my "special" xmas cards from Card Warehouse...59p-99p. want to do " xmas tea" hamper got some ideas and now stuck.

Great links, thanks. I looked everywhere for nice plain luggage tags last year.

Thanks for the info, I love YK and have been wondering what the Kringle ones are like.

I have persuaded DH to take me to Haskins / Hobbycraft this afternoon so I will report back if they have any Christmas stuff in yet. Also need to get some adhesives to get on with making Christmas cards.

I've just bought my last Christmas present :D

It's a banjo for my husband, came from Amazon with my Swagbucks vouchers and cost me technically nothing :money:

I have all the stocking filler bits, so this week I am absolutely going to fill DH and DD's stockings. I also have the Christmas planner from organizedhome.com and this week is Week One so I'll be doing that too.

SO EXCITED. September means it's nearly here!

  • :rotfl:Men!!! I know that strange feeling, you feel so disorientated don't you? I found the first night in our new house both times we moved felt so wierd, and I kept thinking 'I don't like this!' but 2 days in I loved it, guess the older I get the more change seems to really unsettle me more, when do you move in? will you post some piccies!

hoping to get my work up to date so I can watch F1 first practice this morning, always love watching Spa despite the rain!! this break has seemed too long hasn;t it? even though Ive been away I've still missed not haveng a GP the last few weekends

I'm glad you said that about when you moved, I was worried and felt I should be really excited and was upset that i'm not, but when I think about it, it is a big move and a house we're not used to. I have lots of ideas of how I want to decorate it so i'm sure we'll be very happy once we've made it home. I am happy we've bought the house it's just going to take some getting used to! We're moving stuff over gradually but the final move date is the 8th Sept so not long now!

I agree about the F1, it seems to have been ages this year!! I've still missed it even with the Olympics, wedding planning, Christmas planning and house moving going on!! The wait is no more! :T

I've managed to get through some of my Christmas list; i've got two lovely teacups in the House of Fraser sale for my tea cup hampers. Bought my mum a sudoko book from the 99p store with a pretty pattern on the front as she loves sudoko, I bought myself a lovely new address book from The Works for £2.99 and it was buy one get one free so the other will be a fab gift for one of my friends. I also wanted to put bags of Haribo sweets in my film hampers, the cheapest i'd seen them was in the 99p store so was going to get them from there until I went shopping in Tesco and they were half price at 70p so got 5 bags from there! £3.50 instead of £7! :j
