It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do
All year through0 -
I sometimes feel ignored, but not on these forums as they move so fast. Apologies if I do appear to ignore any advice. I usually, at least, try to press the Thanks button.
My head is spinning from the wonderful ideas you have given me so can I issue a general thanks to all.
Getting really excited about it all now. There is a lot to do beforehand including a holiday in Devon, , a trip to see my 95 year old mum in Scotland, Halloween with the grandchildren, Bonfire Night, local Christmas activities, lots of things to make (my crafts) and, best of all (apart from Christmas itself), a trip to Cologne Christmas markets.
Forgot to add the Elf on the Shelf fun that I am looking forward to.
I am determined to live life to the full from now on as this has not been a good year for the health of friends and it makes you think, when you get to my age (almost 61).
Onwards and upwards!0 -

I'm starting to get excited now! I've done chutneys and jams for my hampers but as soon as I get this week over (a lot of work on) I will be making brandy and orange marmalade with my two tins of Mamade (great stuff), and starting off the Werthers vodka. Not sure if I'm making christmas cakes this year, but if I am I'll make them in September. Going to make some fudge and freeze it too, as I want to get as many hamper recipes out of the way as possible. So I need to choose a fudge recipe. Which one would you choose?

Yes I was thinking along the lines of a photo calendar, something personal and useful.
Snugglebunny - I would probably go for the foolproof chocolte fudge! But then i've never made fudge before so I think I just like the 'foolproof' part! :rotfl:0 -
I have a sugar thermometer this year so theoretically it should all be foolproof!0

thanks for photo gift idea for Mums, am looking into that!
Lunar am sorry I missed your tree pics too! will have a nosey back after work
I love lots of twinkly fairy lights on a tree, but I also love fibre optic trees, they are so pretty! I have a little one for the table, my Mum bought one several years ago from her local Aldi, its about 3 feet high and is in her porch, it's the nicest one I've ever seen, but we don't have an Aldiam always on the look out for a nice one, so will check out Argos, thanks!
OMG I love fudge, the Nigella one looks great! I've got a recipe for one that ends up a bit like Scottish Tablet, but stays very melt-in-your-mouth, not made it for ages, made me want some! everyone loves fudge and all those recipes look delish!
am really happy, went into office this morning and they gave me an envelope - was some shopping vouchers to say thanks for a big job I'd done a lot of work on, which was really lovely of them and also very welcome! think that's the PS3 new game mostly paid for for DS for Christmas when it's released!0 -
I love Christmas and once it gets to around this time of year I start to look forward to it. I think I like the build-up as much as the event. I've been gathering together small presents for quite some time now. If I see a bargain in a sale or in a good offer then I tend to grab it, especially kids presents for stockings. I've got a fair few bits already gathered together and have them hidden in a box in the wardrobe.LOL I recently managed to get some vintage Christmas tree decorations too which I am just dying to try out, but I guess it's still a bit early!:D0

I Love Cupcakes - I love your name!
And well done Snugglebunny, it's always lovely to be thanked like that, you must have deserved it so enjoy it! :T
I found out recently that a Home Bargains is coming to my town in September, I should be happy about this BUT I am moving in September!! We are moving to a lovely town but unfortunately it doesn't have any bargain shops like Poundland, 99p Store, Wilkos, The Range etc....Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle getting to a bigger town for all of these things for my bargain fix!
