That is sods law
Very lucky that we have a 99p shop (not the same as the store, it's one on it's own I think?) and a poundworld, wilkos and B&M's but no Home Bargains - would LOVE a Home Bargains. (Am going to Scunny next week on a shopping scout - aka straight to Home Bargains :rotfl: )
Our local paper posted last week that we'd be getting a poundland at some point - very excited, I love their Christmas range
Gleek - When I used to live at home with my parents we had a Home Bargins and a B&M not to far away, but now ive moved out and the the other end of the country we now just have a 99p store which isnt too bad but not as many gifts etc in stock
I have just found out they are soon to open a HobbyCraft by me in the winter time so I am looking forward to getting some arty bits there to sparkle up some plain gifts & make some more homemade decs.0 -

I wanted to make it really special as she has spent the past 15 months nursing my grandmother and grandad who both got cancer within the same very short time period and died within 2 or 3 months of each other very recently. So this christmas is going to be very hard without them there for all of us, I was with her a lot helping out with them but she truly went above and beyond for them and i feel like she deserves something amazing! But the trouble is she is SO hard to buy for, I want to make a hamper but putting smellies etc in it would be pointless because she gets all the usual type stuff herself or from her OH.
If i manage to come up with/see anything good though (pigs may fly first though) i'll let you know
My mum & nan are both very diffiuclt to buy for and I am always stuck with what to do!
I dont know if these ideas are any good but I thought Id ramble on anyways .. What about a day out somewhere? Like a day trip to a nearby city for a wander & dinner? Or maybe a theatre trip or something. I dont know how much you want to spend, but last year I bought my nan a ticket to go to an Elvis tribute thing which seemed to be quite a successful gift and for this xmas I have got both her & my mum tickets to see an Agatha Cristie show that is touring up to Liverpool :T
Also last thing I have done for my nan in the past is given her IOU vouchers for my 'time' that I made and jazzed up to look pretty! And basically she just picked what she wanted to do & when, one this was helping her sort her garden out and another was we just went out for dinner one day.
Dont know if any of that helps!
Im new & like to chat & chat :rotfl:0 -
We all have lists and ideas for everyone else, but what would you like to be under YOUR Christmas tree, and what are you likely to actually get? :xmastree:
Well I'm fairly fortunate with my OH, I never ask for something in particular but he always seems to pick the perfect presents. The year before last he put a HUGE present under the tree on December 1st and left it there until Christmas eve, making me look at it and wonder what on earth it could be, then on xmas eve he said I could open it to find it was filled with around 30 small presents. Last year he went with the "12 days of Christmas" theme...buying me 12 presents and writing a little rhyme on each tag (that I had to sing to the tune of "12 days of Christmas" before I was allowed to open them) each something I'd never have thought to ask for but loved nonetheless.
But as our little bundle of joy is due in March he's decided he can't really afford anything for me for Christmas so my stocking may be rather empty this yearI'm buying him a new desktop computer (I've been saving for it since May and currently have around £350 towards it so hopefully by Christmas I should be able to get him a relatively new one as his is 10yrs old and now makes a rather loud and irritating noise whenever he has it switched on) as it's his birthday in December too so it'll be his joint birthday/Christmas present.

Wow, this thread has raced ahead today- I have read it all but sorry, have lost track a bit too much too comment!
Has anyone noticed that the Rudolph Monopoly is now showing as no longer available from Amazon rather than available for pre order? I wonder if this is because they have all been pre ordered or because of supply problems? Either way, I'm a bit sad about it.

And well done Snugglebunny, it's always lovely to be thanked like that, you must have deserved it so enjoy it! :T
I found out recently that a Home Bargains is coming to my town in September, I should be happy about this BUT I am moving in September!! We are moving to a lovely town but unfortunately it doesn't have any bargain shops like Poundland, 99p Store, Wilkos, The Range etc....Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle getting to a bigger town for all of these things for my bargain fix!
thanks honeyit's what I'm paid for so I didn't expect it, but was very touched that they made a point of doing that to say thanks

spotted this this morning too and forgot to say, on my account it still says estimated delivery 3rd September, but as you mentioned, it says no date for stock on the item, will keep eye on it, hope we get them and stock comes in, they must see it's an item people are looking at by the clicks, so hopefully it will come in, or  will be sad about it too!0 -
ps Amazon are usually quite quick to email if there is an issue on delivery/dispatch times etc or if there's a change, not had anything yet, but will update you if I do0

Every year for the last five years in the run up to Christmas i've often said to various people 'Oh i'd really like to get the S*x & the City dvd boxset at some point' - but have never received it! I think this year i'm going to put it under the tree for myself! :rotfl:
If you do that you can absolutely bet that this will be the year someone else gets it for you too!:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0
