Hi All
Well I went on a Moshi Monster hunt in Poundland, B&Ms, Home Bargains to find cheap bits for my friends daughters xmas hamper and found... Nothing!
I think its just one of those things that when u are not looking you see this stuff everywhere, but as soon as you are purposely looking it can't be found.
Going to wait till all stationery is reduced when the kids are back at school, and will carry on with the Moshi hamper then.
I did manage to get another dvd for DS's dvd hamper though. I found the complete Simpsons series 6 for 50p from a local charity shop
I also managed to partially sort a forthcoming birthday. Got my good friend and neighbour a "tea lovers section" for £7 from T K Maxx. Its various weird and wonderful tea bags (raspberry rooiboos?!? Etc) I know this is right up her street and will be really appreciated.
Only slight downside is I generally buy things that are cheaper but look more expensive, but this set cos £7 and looks like it cost £7 if you see what I mean, so will have to buy something else to go with it.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -

Just so you know
Home and bargain
shampoo and conditioner in 1 £1
Body wash £1
Slanket thing £3.99
then there was the blow up couch for about £12, scooter about £12-15 (didn't price up as I refuse to buy another character scooter)
The Linen Warehouse (I think it's called)
Moshi single duvet set £10 didn't get this either
The Works
£3.99 - its like a bath bomb and you put it in the bath and it dissolves and there is a moshi monster figure inside
Claires Acessessories
Lots of bags, stationary, stickers, cuddly toy beanie babies - but these were all quite expensive and I'll think about getting these closer to xmas
Asda
The zip up pencil case was £6 and there was single squeezy moshi's figures for £2
Hope this is of use..0 -

Anyway, I've always looked out for this version - I assume it's BBC and had no luck and today I was in a shop I think it was called That's Entertainment and it was there - the whole series and it was 3 DVD's for £5!! Then I saw one called the littlest light on the xmas tree - or something, I recognised it as being a favourite of someone's on here and my 3rd one was Kranks Christmas or something with Dan Ackroyd -never heard of it, but I've hidden the 2 xmas ones away (which is why I can't recall their names properly!!) There were lots of other xmas DVD titles in the 3 for £5 section, Santa Clause 1 and 2, Elf, Santa Clause the movie, national lampoon etc I thought it was great value - in Liverpool on Bold Street.
That is so funny you mentioned The Chronicles of Narnia - I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day! I have the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on DVD and I love to watch it at Christmas. It isn't about Christmas but as you say it was first aired in the lead up to Christmas in 1988, from 13th Nov - 23rd Dec. Then the same time the next 2 years for the next ones. I watched it as a little girl so it really recaptures the the magic of the time for me! I have to watch the old TV series though, the new films just aren't the same for me.
I wished I lived in Liverpool going through that list of bargains!!0 -
Aw, I watched it back then too, and it does always make me feel Christmassy. Must look out for it.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0

Ha ha, my OH always laughs or rolls his eyes at me but he's admitted a few times that he thinks what i'm doing is really good and is impressed by the money i'm saving! Unfortunately it hasn't rubbed off on him and i'm sure he'll still do his Christmas shopping a week before Christmas but that's up to him! I'll be sitting at home with my hot chocolate and feet up watching a Christmas film!:rotfl:
I know this isn't a 'crafts' thread but I just wanted to say for anyone interested that I went to Hobbycraft earlier and they've started getting a lot of Christmas stuff in. I ended up buying a sheet of foiled stickers to put on my Christmas card envelopes, I know completely pointless and not necessary but I couldn't help myself! They were on sale though so it's ok.I like the idea of jazzing up my Christmas cards and in the past few years I have bought a big bag of chocolate coins and put one in each card (or for how many people the card is for) to make it a bit more special.

Hiya Cake4brains (what a fabulous name! - sounds just like me!) If I were you, I'd get a load of picture frames and give everyone a fabulous pic of your wonderful new arrivals and let them spoil you and your little ones. Something else to consider is joining jacquielawson.com for a small annual fee you can send as many animated cards as you like all year (brill for Christmas cards) - there is also a new card for birth announcements which allows you to include up to 3 uploaded photos in the card: http://www.jacquielawson.com/cards_baby.asp
Thanks Icemice, will definitely be on the lookout for some nice photo frames. Never heard of that site, will have a look through what they've got now
Thanks again!:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -
Hi All
Well I went on a Moshi Monster hunt in Poundland, B&Ms, Home Bargains to find cheap bits for my friends daughters xmas hamper and found... Nothing!
It may be worth another look in B&M , I went in today and they had some bits but they were fairly hidden/mixed in where you wouldn't expect them to be!
They had a stationary set for 1.99 hanging on a strip strangely enough on the home ware bit!
They also had some moshi monster bubble bath character pouches (the same type as tesco do meant for one use) for 60p each, 4 different characters but they were right at the bottom of the make up/beauty shelf in a tub where they could barely be seen.
Also spotted what i think was a colouring book in the (fairly crap in my local if im being honest) craft/colouring section.
And i don't know if its of any use but last week ish the mirror were doing a free moshi monster toy when you bought their newpaper every day for a week and there were 5 to collect, the nice woman in tesco just let my son take all without even paying for the papers when it was the last day, he was really pleased, but back to the point - Tesco are selling them off for 50p each in my local so maybe worth checking there to? They were in the seasonal sectionHaving a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0
