This may be of interest to some of you. Ordered a pair of Scooby jim jams for my nephew's birthday, only £3 on ebay, but supplier sent flier for their site, character.com. Had a look and there are some nice bargains, will have a proper look tonight as I think I may be doing some more shopping! There is also 10% discount for new customers, code is new10, enter when checking out.

Thanks for this - if you click on the special offers, there are boys Star Wars PJs for 95p!!! - plenty more for under £2, so grab them quickly before they all go!!!

Great link - many thanks Gettingtherequickly!

Have activated a months Netflix trial, searched for Christmas and unfortunately not a lot came up but if you go looking for specific titles it does throw extras up (and it does have Holiday In Handcuffs that I caught last year on BBC2 which I haven't been able to get in this country/region 2 since so yay!)

Can also run it through various games consoles too so a big bonus that we can watch on the proper tv through the wii - I'm tempted to keep it (though we'll have to see) for the full series of top gear alone :o (£5.99 a month onwards after your free 30 day trial)

I am a little bit disapointed by the lack of Christmas movies on the whole but I suppose come November onwards they might add more? :D

Gleek, I did a trial with them a few months ago and was actually really disappointed with all of their films, I know LoveFilm is more expensive but I find them much better.
I saved up for 6 months and got lucky a 6 month subscription with 10% off and £15 amazon voucher (which I am just waiting to come through on email before placing my final Christmas order on Amazon as we have managed to get 90% of it for free thanks to this and surveys). I originally intended to save up and then get 6 months as of November when the baby arrives as our 1/2 price deal on sky runs out then also but the offer ended this month and I decided it was too good to turn down ;) (and im impatient).

BTW I phoned Sky yesterday to find out the date I need to cancel by and they were impossible! so patronising and rude!

  • I am really sorry to hear things are a bit pants, you know, buying your son the £300 games console even with your mum chipping in should be plenty - I think anyone would want to give him a stocking so he has a few other bits to unwrap on the day but you could buy a few things from http://www.mummymartinstoybox.co.uk/ I even get a few bits for adults from here sometimes when we have in the past done stockings for people so it doesn't matter about his age there must be some cheap stuff you could use. Or if the Hawkins Bazaar sale is still on. You could fill a stocking for £10. You don't need to go over board. He is a very lucky little boy to be getting a games console, don't put yourself under so much pressure. I know I am not a Mum just yet, but I do know enough about kids that it's not the presents that make Christmas special but the time you spend doing things with them.
You could create your own new traditions such as make a gingerbread house, make cards for grandparents, my nephew loves to visit the local garden centre to see the lights and feel the tinsel and look at all the pretty decorations we take a flask of hot chocolate and some "special biscuits" (bourbons because he isn't usually allowed them!) and have a treat in the car park of that after we are done. He doesn't know it's only cost a bit in petrol money, to him it is a fun afternoon doing something different.
You could spend an afternoon making paper chains to decorate with or snowflakes to stick to the windows or hang in his bedroom.
I am sure that doing things like this will be enjoyed. Also a happy Mummy from not worrying about all the money being spent will also make a difference.

I am sure everyone on here can help with ideas and things if you need it.

It must be hard, but you sound like you are doing so well.

Thanks for the lovely response :)
I already do a lot of those types of things with him. I think it's mostly for me more than him in a way because sometimes he'll get fed up of me saying 'come on, lets do this' :rotfl:
I'm quite good at finding the things he wants a lower price than normal, Even if it means him having to wait a while to get it! There was a really great post on the grabbit board last week and i managed to get him 3 of his top wanted toys delivered for £11, instead of the £60 they should of cost, I got him a few other bits in the argos sale which came to about £15 instead of £50 and have picked up a few bits in home bargains etc on and off over the past few months, So far its going really well, I've decided im going to allow a spend of about £30ish more on him , see what pops up deal wise etc in the next month or two and then thats that. I won't have spent more than £100 all together and the way i've managed to get it all has been in such little amounts ive managed not to miss the money.

I'm also going to order some cheap beads from crafty crocodiles and we're going to make everyone a personalised keyring each with their names on, they have some really good deals on at the moment and i have a 20% off code so will be able to make everyone one for under £5ish.

He's been mithering about halloween this morning! I'm so stuck thinking about xmas i'd completely forgotton about the other occasions of the year :rotfl:
Apparently he's going as jack sparrow and he NEEDS a pirate medallion .
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
