  • I also have to admit to enjoying the christmas 24 movies - I've still got one recorded on sky plus that I never got around to watching and am saving for a day when I'm feeling really down in the dumps.

I've not really been doing much Christmassy wise at the minute, and I've also missed the last few pages of postings - think it's cos surprisingly I've been enjoying watching the olympics.

Two books that I ordered for the Xmas eve hamper that I'm doing for myself and OH have turned up (Xmas themed obviously) and I now am struggling not to start reading one of them. Must go and put them away before I cave in. At least them turning up has put me back in the chrimbo swing of things again.

Christmas Eve hampers are an idea for children (and big) kids to capture the excitement of the final build up to the big day and make it special, but also get a routine to calm them down for bed to if you so wish! A nice tradition to start with children which could keep going as they get older! Things to include could be:

    New Pjs
    Christmas book/dvd
Snowman soup (more on that if you need it!)
Things like Reindeer food, Santa Key, mince pie etc. to lay out for Santa
    Christmas toys
    Special snacks
    themed mugs
    Christmas toothbrush
    Christmas bubble bath etc.

The idea may be that an elf has delivered the hamper from Santa to say he's on his way and it's time to get ready for bed. Use new bubble bath, get on new pjs, have snowman soup and lay out the santa key/reindeer food. Get tucked up in bed and read the new story book or watch new dvd, then hopefully go to sleep so the grown ups can get tucked into their Christmas eve hamper containing wine and chocolate!!!
  • Ordered some more pressies this week.. although i really should stop buying for my 2yr old, this rate she'll be over whelmed and the teens will only have a couple of pressies lol

Was ordering some new silicone pans this morning to make a bday cake for my stepdad next week and i found some brilliant xmasy themed ones for £3... so those accidently found their way into my basket too. That will make this years xmas cake a bit different to the normal. Though think i'll do a normal fruit one and instead of the yule log make a sponged shaped one.

I have to trawl my way through all the pressies pretty soon as my sisters and her childrens bday pressies are amongest it all and i've totally lost track of what i've bought so far.. thats dangerous isn't it :S all i know is i've not spent over £300 and at last count had over a £1250 worth of stuff to show for it.

It isn't my son who has the most things so far, it's his girlfriend. My son only has one small item for his stocking so far and GF has 14 (mainly stocking things) Ooops! I've ordered from John Greed Jewellery, Hawkins Bazaar, Argos, a few local shops (all sale item bar just a few) but I haven't kept a close tally on costings as I try and focus on presents not my purse otherwise I'll either be very depressed overall or will be cutting back to such an extent that the presents become stocking fillers only. ;)

I find it difficult when I've bought a bargain for someone to say 'that's it' and not buy more things as I feel as though I don't value the recipient. I know that it's silly as they still get the full-price item.....

I am thinking i will get the boxes down from the loft and take pics of everything so i can physically see everything rather than writing a list as i often dont remember what things are fro my scribblings. If i can see it i can easily allocate it to people :)

While he waited for us to wake up, he got all of his craft things out and made me a shiny paper bracelet, which I still have 20 years later. I was so touched and did tell him that he could have woken me, but he said that he wanted to make a present for me in case Santa hadn't me anything either. Awww.

With losing parents and MIL over last 2 years (FIL died when my husband was 17, so I never knew him), I really miss all the things including them, but when we decorated the cake last year, OH put simple white stars on the top - 'one for each person missing'. We both cried.

Was just browsing through this thread for the 1st time thinking how I really need to get organised for Christmas (twins due 18th Nov) and your post brought tears to my eyes. Twice! So very sweet

Im getting nervous about not being prepared for Christmas as Im the present buyer (DH is useless!), and although family and friends say I will have enough on my plate, I always go overboard and buy and make lots and lots (ok, too many!) presents normally
