My two (10 & 7) both know the truth about Santa, just from little things they have said without actually coming out and saying it, LOL! We all seem to be avoiding actual discussion of the truth, presumably because I want the magic Christmas Day and they still want their presents! That's fine by me.

My son (8) is exactly like this, I think he doesn't want to spoil it for me. :rotfl:

Occassionally he slips up and has come up with something along the lines of Mum and Dad have to buy the toys (cos they only make boring wooden ones at the North Pole) and the Santa collects them and delivers them to him.

Our more cynical daughter (13) thinks its all us. As if! ;)
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D

I'm still planning my list, and yes, checking it twice, but in the meantime, I thought that I'd share a few of my Christmassy bits.

When my son was about 4, he hadn't spotted the huge stocking on his bedroom door (all proper presents under the tree) and he thought that Santa hadn't visited. While he waited for us to wake up, he got all of his craft things out and made me a shiny paper bracelet, which I still have 20 years later. I was so touched and did tell him that he could have woken me, but he said that he wanted to make a present for me in case Santa hadn't me anything either. Awww.

I always put decorations (minus tree) up 2 weeks before Christmas as OH won't let me do this any earlier :rotfl: As we always have a real tree, so our tradition is to buy a tree from a forestry commission place a nice little drive away then go and have lunch at a country pub - hopefully snow covered, but last year we got well and truly stuck in the snow drifts. I was veerryyy worried about having to abandon the car and walk for miles.

A local garden centre has a Christmas open evening (just one evening - as if that makes good business sense!) with free mince pies and mulled wine and lots of lovely displays and promotions so that's another usual one.

With losing parents and MIL over last 2 years (FIL died when my husband was 17, so I never knew him), I really miss all the things including them, but when we decorated the cake last year, OH put simple white stars on the top - 'one for each person missing'. We both cried.

Right, enough for now - better get back to that list.....

I seem to recall some of this from Hotel Chocolat and it being yummy. As a HC member there are usually a few little extra freebies when the Christmas order goes in. Not cheap but I'd rather have a bit of really good choccy rather than masses of cheap sickly-sweet stuff :)

Go in with an open mind - you never know you may have a fantabulous time ;)

That's a very good idea and I suppose there will be lots of other people so it's not like I have to talk to her constantly :)

I'd make a point of talking to her and being extra-polite to prove that you are the better person and if anything awful happens, it will be entirely her fault. Even take a bottle of wine etc that she likes to show goodwill. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to take my own advice on this as I'm completely estranged from my sister due to her harassment for many years. Incidentally, no other family members have any contact with her - it's not just me, so yes, we all have to deal with family 'stuff' - even at Christmas, so feel free to share. Afterall, coping with stuff at Christmas is just as important as sorting pressies and food as we all want to come out on the other side relatively unscathed apart from a little too much tipple and nibbles.

    Anyway, ho ho ho, Merry-Run-Up-To-Christmas!

I hope that Sky (can't remember channel no) does the christmas film channel again - wall to wall christmas films in December :xmassmile

    Also....christmas radio over the net:

http://www.xmasmelody.com/ Doesn't appear to be broadcasting yet & can't remember when it starts but christmassy music all the time when it is up & running :snow_laug:rudolf:

Film 24 usually changes to Christmas 24 in Dec - I love their cheesy festive selection! :D
Last year they also did Christmas in July as well but alas this not this one- :(
