  • Im ok , Thanks for asking Chirpchick :)

Just been a bit of a crap few months all round really, my partner and I split up and i had to move with our son, to a much smaller place than Im used to, It has no storage at all apart from two cupboards, one of which is the 'xmas cupboard' :rotfl: But thats now full, as it has the tree and decorations in there as well, and thanks to clintons closing down locally i managed to get a lot of beautiful xmas things which added to the pile a few weeks ago. I spent about £7 all together and ended up with about £60 pounds worth of me to you christmas things :D

Its all going to be so different this year as obviously ill be alone with my little boy over christmas, and im actually dreading it a bit when it comes to money, which is why im really trying to grab bargains here and there now a lot more than i have in the past because ill be doing it all on my own.

Part of the Furniture Photogenic Combo Breaker Xmas Saver!
i sent my mum/ dad/ sister a lottery scratchcard in a christmas card as we usually don't see each other to do pressies until january (or march as it was this year) :rotfl:

one year when i was little my mum gave me and my sister a washing basket each with pressies in so we'd leave hers alone and i remember playing turtles with it on my back.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

i changed our tree theme last year from the scandinavian traditional look (or is it german?:o) think red and white gingham, felt gingerbread men, wooden toys etc
to purple and gold, i did fear that it wouldnt look christmassy and maybe a little too sophisicated (youve gotta have a bit of tak at christmas :D) but to be honest it was lovely, looked really nice, not too tacky and not too posh!

my presents are currently in the top half of the linen cupbaord which is huge! a few are hidden in a walk in cuboard on the landing, a few bags on the high shelves in the walk in cupboard in dds bedroom, some hidden in my pram cuboard (my big pram had to go in the loft to make the room:rotfl:) and theres possibly a few under my bed!!
my problem is i always have a kid or two hanging off me so everything is in bags or boxes and shoved in any available space so they cant see! but when school starts again i plan to drag everything out and arrange it properly in big boxes which should give me some space back (to fill with more gifts ;))

in our house santa gets the main present and the stockings (which arent wrapped)
the elves pick up presents off ourselves and our friends and families and if santa decides that the kids have been good enough, he delivers them all on xmas eve!
this is what i was led to believe as a kid and ive just carried it on!

Thanks for all the lovely ideas about my new colour scheme.I think i may go for the multi-coloured scheme as i am loving the idea of using my 3 boys trinkets and treasures that they have made for me over the years and i am also loving the idea of using some of my old oranments breaking them up and using them on the wrapping. Thanks xxx. I now just cannot wait to see my my hubbies face when i start going through the boxes again ha ha

my stepdad got my mum a BIG teddy one year he had to hide it in her carboot (they always use his car over christmas)

he announced he was going to get her main present and we all was excited to see as he gets her some really thoughful gifts.

when he returned with the teddy, her face was hilarious. she had to pretend she loved it (shes not really a cuddly toy person and it wasnt the type of thing he'd usually buy) i could tell she was thinking 'why has he bought me this?'
she made a fuss of it for as long as was polite and discarded it on the couch (where my nephew, 2 at the time, snuggled up and went to sleep on it:D)

about an hour later (my mum still had a puzzled look on her face) and he asks 'did you not like your bracelet?

turns out he had bought her a really lovely braclet and put it around the teddys arm, nobody noticed :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes my mum lives in the next town over so ill see her and my brother and sister etc on christmas day, Im just not used to spending things like xmas eve alone or boxing day , So it will be a new experience.

I normally buy a few stocking type filler things through out the year, but im determined to be done buying christmas gifts by the end of october, Mostly because before me and my partner split up in may, My son was promised a star wars xbox for christmas, normally it wouldn't of been a problem to buy this and some other presents for him at christmas but now it is really going to be a stretch as its almost £300 , so as long as i can get everything else done in the next month or two, i will give me around 6 weeks so save for the xbox, thankfully my mums offered to put £100 to it as well. His father is refusing to help me in any way ( but thats another story and not one to spoil this lovely cheery xmas thread :)) .

I've already planned my trip to country baskets in my mind this evening, Have you or anyone else ever been? The things they sell at christmas for craft purposes and present wrapping etc are beautiful! Last year i wrapped carboard boxes for each person, put the wrapped presents inside and covered them with that florest type wrap, stuck diamontes , and stars and lovely xmas ribbon on and they all looked amazing and it can't of cost me more than £6 all together.

And don't worry about talking about ur ex, it's a Christmas chatty place. And while we would all love Christmas to be magical for everybody we've all got 'family' pain in the but* people who if we'd let them spoil Christmas. The trick is your friends on here will make sure nobody gets to spoil it for you or ur DS:)
