Def agree with the meal idea, but you may find some still want a present to open, so maybe say £30 in total, £25 of that we put up for a meal, with the other £5 you have to do a christmas stocking, but must spend the £5, so its still a present, but being creative.
or how about spend £20 but buy something such as a goat from Oxfam, or adopt an animal xx
I expect you are right about some people wanting a present, mum2one so we will maybe go with the meal plus something to open.
We do the Oxfam goat thing for the children's birthdays, some money in their bank, a donation type gift and something for them to open. Children have so much and are happy to have something small, thankfully. I went to Poundland today and bought some Spiderman and Barbie notebooks for them to use when the next visit - they will be delighted with those, bless them.
John Lewis "Clearance" usually provides me with a good quality gift for them at a good price and I put them away if I can resist giving them to the children.:)0 -
Ooh I've had a lovely day sorting through my stash, started a lovely new notebook I've been saving for something special- Christmas 2012. I've got lists of who's got what, who need what and the little extra crafty things I'm padding them out with. No excuses now and no more might come in handy buys( I will try) My craft list is ready early enough to get everything done - no excuses. I've never been this organised before but am so very determined this year. Woooo hooo me xThe secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do

I have had a lovely big sort out today and well i know i love Christmas but 14 boxes of decorations is a little too much even for me.I like to keep all the little things that the kids make at school and nursery,i don't like it when others get rid of decs so i take them on as well but i have gone through box by box and steadily reduced my boxes to 6 which is a little more respectable.I have kept all the things that are dear to me and have now decided that i need a new colour scheme as what i have kept does not match lol.Any suggestions.Thanks.0

Crissy G thanks for the site I really like it! May have to get some bits for gift draw and maybe me.
Sorted Godsons birthday present got him some clothes in end but I messed up as I picked up some 9-12's and not 9-18months so i will put the others in pressie draw (only miscalculated £3 so not the end of world as it will be used eventually). He has 4 tops which cost £7.55 instead of £19 so that should be okay! Currently got decorations in one big box my challange this week is to get all the presents hiddent in one place rather than 3- especially since little visitors are coming SaterdayA big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0 -
I have just had a look at the pics and the colours are gorgeous.Thanks.I cannot believe that even though that they are not colours i would usually use they still look really festive.0

Hello again
I've had a bit of a poop weekend to be honest, so sorry I haven't had a chance to comment since my last post.
I do have a question though, Where does everyone keep their xmas gifts once they've started buying them early in the year? I've recently had to move and i have a cupboard i've been using, but yesterday i tried to fit something in it that was delivered and noticed that ...well lets just say nothing else is going to be able to go in there :rotfl:.
So with little prying eyes around, how does everyone manage to hide everything so that it isn't found?Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -
I use the old coal shed, then if its clothes they go in the shelf im my wardrobe.
Not perfect as the shed leaks so its bin bags and boxes galore! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I aspire to a colour scheme and get very OCD about what goes on the tree, but somehow other things get sneaked on there. DH really wants coloured lights but I put my down as I only like white lights. Think I'm rather selfish about my perfect tree really.
Haven't done much Christmassy as have been sorting the children's rooms and they've got rid of loads of stuff which I'm ebaying. But have got DS a couple of Club Penguin-related presents using Amazon vouchers from Valued Opinions.0 -

But your colour scheme could be multi-coloured... that's what we used to have on the tree at home when I was a kid - that way it doesn't matter what you buy, what breaks or what the kids make at school etc it always goes! The rule was silver tinsel and any colour everything else including coloured lightsI went for a colour scheme of silver, blue and purple when I moved out but multicoloured still holds a place in my heart.
Regarding hiding pressies - we don't have nosy little people to worry about and thankfully my OH doesn't even bother looking but even if he did I don't think he'd notice since we moved house recently and there's boxes and bags everywhere still so it all blends in - perfect!0
