I am so irritated! I had 2 sleepsuits with "my first Christmas" and 1 little velour reindeer sleepsuit and 3 bibs which I got from a carboot for a total of £1 and I washed them in with our washing this morning ready to put them in the hamper box so i don't have to do it later and the little velour reindeer sleepsuit has loads of brown marks all over it, I am sure it wasn't like that before so something must have run in the washing machine
It doesn't matter really but it is so irritating, it was so cute!! It is completely ruined now
Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
Presents in the stocking need to be wrapped, otherwise the kids miss the excitement of unwrapping them.....best bit!0

Well chuffed, picked up a book in my library's book sale. Alan Titchmarsh 'Fill MyStocking' only 30p. BARGIN. Just full of random poems, plays and stories.
Had good week last week and managed to pick up some bits for hubby for Xmas, almost unheard of!
Really must do spread sheet so I know whos got what. Gonna venture into the loft soon as I know lots up there for kids but can't remember exactly what.0 -
Hi All
Bought a few more stocking fillers... Got Wii Music for £2.50 (reduced from £30) at Argos, and from local charity shop I got a Disney Sonny with a Chance dvd for £1.50p and Santa Claus the movie for 50p (I am going to stick this in the xmas eve hamper)
!
Thanks BBTHREE had a look for Wii music on Argos but all out of stock so I thought I'd head on to Amazon to see if they'd got it for similar price. No BUT i've ordered Wii Ultimate band for 99p and £1.97 delivery. BARGIN :j0 -

People are still getting a present but it is a small token gift instead.
I am pretty sure I am going to go with something like that. We already do the table present thing, whoever is hosting will buy everyone a table gift, around £5 with someone wrapping something up for the hosts too. So maybe we could do a variation on that which would save the host money.
I had this idea but not sure if it is in the Christmas spirit. Everyone contributes an agreed amount. I get 9 envelopes placing, say £100, £50, £25, £10, £5 into each. Lucky dip! But I don't think I will do that. Just want to vary it a bit as the whole present thing was getting a bit stale.
Thanks for your reply.:)0 -

We do something similar as a bit of fun. I buy a selection of 20 x £1.00 lottery scratch cards.
I put them in a folded up envelope and indivually wrap in Xmas paper.
Then after dinner we have a lucky dip around the table in which the guests pick them out and scratch them off. It costs me £20 but it's a bit of fun as lots of the prizes on them are £50k. The year before last a family member won £50 which was nice.
Edit: should also add that around Xmas they release Xmas themed scratch cards which is cool too and adds that extra bit of festive feel.
None of us are big gamblers but it's great fun0 -

My parents used to do JOKE presents too.... I always got a potato wrapped up with the peeler:mad:! My sister got a mug wrapped with a tea bag inside:eek:! It was the same every year and although we never found it funny, Mum and Dad thought it was hysterical.
We never used to unwrap our presents in front of them (looking back, we now realise that they were always too hungover and didn't want to watch anyway) and the JOKE presents were our reminders to get started on the dinner and to make them a cuppa to ease them into the day!
I think that Dad really hated Christmas and would go to the pub before dinner, come home to eat, then fall asleep on the sofa. For this reason, even though I live by myself and have no kids of my own, I love the preparations and thoroughly spoil my nephews and nieces.. not necessarily financially BUT have spent many hours sitting on the floor with a mixing bowl in my lap while said kids all took turns at stirring the Christmas cake, or being covered in flour while watching the gingerbread creations coming to life! All totally magical!
