The problem people always seem to have with me getting excited so early is because it 'ruins the magic later on'. They reckon talking or thinking about Christmas now makes it less special in December.
Well that's fine for them, but obviously it doesn't mean that for me! So let me get on with it, ya bunch of curmudgeons.

My best friend LOVES Christmas, but he won't listen to a Christmas song or watch a Christmas film before December. For me that's leaving it way too late to get the requisite amount of pleasure from it. Like those people who put their tree up on Christmas Eve.

But hey, we're all different, and everyone should do what they want! (But they are wrong.)

I agree about enjoying the build up. I don't count down to Christmas as I enjoy the buildup as much, maybe more than the day itself. I love choosing presents, writing cards, decorating, planning our days and spending time with family. I used to count down before I had my children, I had years of fertility treatment and now I have them i am loving my time with young boys in the house, i don't want to rush it.

Check out this site http://www.portablenorthpole.tv/home I got the videos last year and DS1 who was just 3 loved it, got him really excited on Christmas eve. Check they have any names you need as if you let them know early enough they can add them, i had to do that last year.

    Hi All

Bought a few more stocking fillers... Got Wii Music for £2.50 (reduced from £30) at Argos, and from local charity shop I got a Disney Sonny with a Chance dvd for £1.50p and Santa Claus the movie for 50p (I am going to stick this in the xmas eve hamper)

Still loving this thread keep checking in everyday ( too handy on phone sometimes) so this week I have made my first skittle vodka to try in prep for present making nearer the time, does anyone know how long if keeps for once made?? Also ordered a silicon base that can make ice cube glasses with so can't wait for that to arrive and sample
Also decided with OH that for inlaws we will make a selection of choc goodies such as Rocky road, truffles, extra strong mint chocs as read off another MSE site and tried and tested and are fab.
Trying to think of crafts can do with my 4 yr old while he off in hols to keep him occupied but also Christmas wise

Edited as remembered also want to try and do covered notebooks does anyone know if this can be done on spiral pads? I am really looking for a journal type book but so far all the notebooks I can find are spiral

i think it may be a bit hard to do on spiral notebooks tbh. have you tried wilkinsons for the other ones? theyre pretty cheap there and come in a few different sizes.

I was wondering the same thing Pinklady. Tomorrow is our, DH and I 27th wedding anniversary and I'm getting the best pressie ever- he's going out all day fishing leaving me to sort my squirrelling :) Best pressie I've had in 27 years! I am planning to empty my present cupboard, allocate presents, write lists etc can't wait:) Organise at last, list what still needs to be bought, made etc wooo hooo it's exciting.
    The secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do
    All year through

  • CarlaMarie thanx yeh I looked in wilkos and home bargains etc as obv don't want to be spending too much as it will kind of defeat the object of making as a cheap but personal gift really.
Nanamia that sounds perfect I can't wait til schools go bk etc so have bit more free time to sort thru my present cupboards without nosey little fella looking what's been bought. He keeps getting excited at all the parcels arriving. Can't wait to see his face at Xmas as he will understand alot more this year. Just got to try keep baby from pulling Xmas tree down etc when it goes up as currently into everything

I keep mine in plastic boxes some in the loft and some under the spare bed.

I have learnt from experience though not to put things like candles and liquid toiletries in the loft. The heat made the toiletries leak and the candles melted. Luckily the candles weren't wrapped and I saw what had happened to them before gifting them.

The other thing I do is either use sticky backed labels or if I am using less secure labels, I write in a discrete place the name of who the parcel is for in case the label falls off.

Wow 27 years congratulations! I think that'd be a fab pressie for me right now lol feeling Ill with a hubby and 5 kids dosnt mix! I've got big boxes everywhere in my bedroom with our youngests presents in (why is it the presents start off huge then get smaller the older they get) and wanted to start wrapping and storing but when I did it last year I ended up re wrapping as they were dusty or looking a bit battered
