i loved the john lewis advert last year, it was quite emotional!

i picked up dd's toiletries set for her xmas eve hamper today, i got a disney princess one from boots it was £4.20, reduced from £6 not a huge saving but still...

have to get ds1 a toiletries set, if anyone sees a superheroes (spiderman, batman, thor etc) or angry birds, please give me an heads up!
would prefer buying in a set as opposed to seperates as thats what the other two have.

This one seems fairly priced at £5.25 and looks quite decent :)

The spiderman ones on amazon are £25
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona

I can't believe what an absolute rip off that 'set' is on ebay. Its a few separate items they've put together and i kid you not, BOTH of those things were/are in quality save/home bargains for 39p each not long ago. I know because we have 2 of the body puffs and one of the toothbrushes as a spare incase the batteries go on DS's electric one. It drives me crazy when people buy things dirt cheap then try and re sell on ebay for a large profit.

I love the John Lewis ads. :) Asda are quite good for character toiletry gift sets nearer christmas. :)
I havent posted for a while, lack of money to do anything christmassy (or anything full stop lol) has made me feel a bit meh! Buuut gotta perk up and get on with it so thought Id come on here to get back in the spirit!! Tesco Direct has great bargainous toiletry gift sets, I know a while ago they were also 3 for 2 so not as cheap now but they are still far cheaper than they will be nearer christmas! I got BIL the Baylis and Harding set for £2.50 and its bigger than expected and looks posh! Can also double up your clubcard vouchers at the mo! http://www.tesco.com/direct/gifts-jewellery/gift-sets/cat3376665.cat?icid=giftsjewellery_flyoutlink_slot13
Does anyone else do joke presents? I dont always but sometimes as an extra get something funny to suit the persons personality for example one year I got my brother a gaydar keyring and last year got my other brother an inflatable ego. :D It creates some mirth so might set out to find a few funny presents this year. :)
Also do you spend the same amount on each person? (or a present worth the same as I know we all get bargains!) I know some spend more on mums than siblings for example but I mean people in the same category. Siblings or nieces/nephews etc? We dont see OHs brothers very much at all (one we havent seen in 3 years!) but one we do see more than the other and we 'know' him a bit better as does DS. I want to get him a wii game (about £20) hes wanted for ages and we've kept meaning to buy but not had the money but his other brother will 'only' have a toiletry gift set. (if theyre doing adults this year as they havent the past 2 years, problem solved if its the same this year lol) I wouldnt have a clue what to get him apart from that and neither does OH but is it a bit mean? His brothers prob wont be opening at the same time but might see each others presents later on in the day...:undecided

  • Just posted this on the home bargains board by mistake and hope I don't get jeered for mentioning the "C" word in August - some people just don't understand!!

So home bargain - A Liverpool FC or Everton "slanket" thing (blanket with sleeves) £1.99 - thought it was a good stocking filler/xmas eve hamper for when it starts to get cold for any little aspiring footballers ;-)
  • I was in home bargains also today and thought i'd mention that they have disney face clothes, cars, disney princess, and two others i didn't know the shows from :o ... for 10p each !!
They were on the little strip thingys that they hang at the end of aisles .
Thought they might make a nice little extra to bulk out hampers or stockings etc. Can't really complain for 10p :D
