feeling a bit down at the mo as the laminate floor now not being done till the 27th so have to move tings back to other room so house looks ok and there's room for father xmas!
however what really upsets me is my 2 dd's. Last week i got really mad with them. The house needed tidying so i did all their stuff downstairs and they were sent to do their rooms. When i finish i go up and they are sat watching tv. i have tried reward charts etc to motivate them. They were told next time i would just put their stuff in bin bags as they must not want it if they don't look after it or put it away. Same thing has now happened.
now i'm upset that i have had to do this and don't feel like treating them to our usual xmas eve as i don't see why they should do this but still expect our usual festivities?
am i being mean? what would you do?
I know they have to learn but i love xmas and it has always been a family time.
I personally would not do the festivities. But then I am a hard b**ch :rotfl:
I would say
A they don't deserve the treat as they didn't help
B you don't have the time now as you are running behind due to having to do their room.
Think of some things to do ( job wise ) and I bet they offer to help to get the jobs finished early, in the hope you can still do something nice.0 -
ditto what own my ownsaid tibawo
YAY for me, I've found some mash in the freezer (from a previous roast dinner) + last nights mash (which is also now in freezer) = no need to buy potatoes for christmas day (already got frozen roasties too) :j:j
Just cream and ham to get ......... hubby can get those.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Went shopping just before 9pm last night.. was very nice not to battle the masses, only bits i didn't get were savoury eggs and onion ring type of things.. shall pop into farmfoods or iceland to get those. Our xmas shop came to £70 (£40 was on my list the other £30 was extras dh picked up) Dh paid for it all and i had £30 vouchers too so rather cheap for a xmas food shop i think lol
It means i can give a lil extra money for dd2's bday so she'll be happy
Got my sister and her family over today and my brother and his wife popping in too.. i need to make some mincepies at some point and cook the ham.
House is nearly tidy.. as long as i keep on top of it, it shouldn't be too bad over xmas.
Oh and tibawo my two oldest girls are a nightmare when it comes to cleaning their room up.. I mentioned their younger cousins are here today and as their room is downstairs they should clear the floor so they don't hurt themselves... my nearly 14 year old has done her half but the 16yr old hasn't and thats the side nearest the door. She never went to bed until gone 1 last night too. The younger two pick up after themselves and like to have a tidy bedroom. But it causes so many arguements in this house it's come to the point where i try not to care anymore, easier said than done.
Totally debt free wohooo 2014

blimey M&S was a mad house!! I got wht I wanted but the queues were crazy - Id got all the food but then of course people eat it so had to replace some!!
Ive Sky+'d all the Jamie Oliver Christmas programmes and some of the Nigella, I love Jamie (God bless him he even gets my DS cooking with vegetables!!) but Nigella is great and makes me smile, I love how she won't let the diet police phase her, and she chocolate, butter and double creams away to her lovely hearts content!0 -
I am nursing a dose of pleurisy so I have been laid up for a cpl of days I now have to brave Asda tomorrow
Sat in bed writing a shopping list with my 8yr old DD, she asked me how much I was spending and I said I had a budget of £200, she looked at me aghast and said Mum that budget is too much you can spend £50. I think I may have pushed the budgeting theory too much this year

So, so, so excited. Still haven't been and done Xmas pressies for DH, we are going tomorrow now:eek: Have been to Tesco's and got all the salad stuff and fresh desserts, so food wise all sorted. It was mental, one lady had 3 trolley's !
After vowing not to do a full Xmas clean upstairs spent all day yesterday, cleaning, stripping beds, washing, ironing etc, etc. Was shattered at the end, but so relieved I did it.
Spent the morning doing lots of Xmas crafts with kiddies to decorate their rooms with, and now ready to relax, only have a mountain of pressies to wrap, and still some to buy. Slightly worried as bought DH a pressie on amazon on Fri for delivery Xmas Eve, but still not showing as despatched, is this normal? Whenever I've bought things before the despatch email appears pretty quick.
If not back on before the Big Day, a Very Merry Christmas to you all, have really enjoyed this thread leading up to Xmas and looking forward to the 2013 one starting.
Merry Xmas :santa2:0
