    Xmas Saver!
Hope Nanamia is OK. She hasn't been on here for a couple of days. It is unlike her. :(
  • caitlyn what a beautiful party table - love the gingerbread station!
well, im wide awake! went out to work xmas do last night, and dh very kindly did the driving, so i think its dehydration mixed with excitement that has me awake at this unearthly hour!!
got a few bits of ironing to do, then off to my mums after lunch for her little "grandkids" xmas party! its just us 4, mum, brother & his 3 little ones but i know mum will have catered for the 5000 as she always does! were all trying realy hard to make xmas special for mum (for those who dont know my dad walked out 2 weeks ago after 38 years & 361 days of marriage) but she seems to be doing so well, i think she has already realised how much easier life is when she isnt having to revolve hers around a man!!! ive made little goody bags up for the kids, and ive organised party games - pass the xmas parcel, pin the nose on rudolf & musical snowmen!
im sooo excited for the big day now, more so than dd's i think! my xmas cheer was late putting in an appearance, but its now here with a vengance!
hope you all have a wonderful day today, and in the words of certain aliens "only 2 more earth days!!!"

Wow Caitlyn that party table looks incredible! Glad it went well for you :D
  • Question!

Does anyone know what time I can pick up a couple of bottles of Cava from @sd@ today ?

I'm not sure on licensing laws on a Sunday and don't want to be stuck in a queue only to find out they only serve after a certain time
  • morning everyone.
Been awake since 5am, think it was due to the house being boiling.

Aww I'm really glad my birthday isn't at Christmas after all these people mentioning how it gets ignored by everyone. Think I would hate to be told this is a joint present for your birthday too.

princesskitty29-hope your dad is ok xx

don't be embarrassed about buying early. Not sure if its due to this thread but I sent off for a free lip gloss, it came with a free pair of tights which was a surprise. Don't like either for myself so am putting them aside and will give to someone either with a few other things for a birthday or save for a Christmas hamper, normally would have just thrown them. Plus I have been looking at Christmas wrap and tags and thinking why would I buy now when they will be much cheaper in just a few days.

Caitlyn22 wow that decorating station looks brill! I think those Rudolph biscuits were one of the best food things I've seen that are Christmassy, I think I like them cos they are so smiley and cute. Gingerbread house looks very good, almost too good to eat (almost). Thank you again for the offer, it was a very nice and kind thing. I hope your kindness comes back twofold :)

Pinkandfluffy28 I hope your mum is ok and you can manage to make Christmas special for her, must have come as quite a shock to her after all those years xx

Well I have got a turkey to get out of the freezer and I am about to start our mountain of washing. How does it all appear so suddenly when you have so many other things to do?

    Feeling quite Chrsitmassy :) xx

  • Good morning all

caitlyn22 - your party table looks wonderful! I wanted to dash over and decorate a gingerbread man myself , bet the children loved it!

chickywiggle - thanks for the reminder re Sarah Millican , will remember to set the V+. ( When I was little, my dad and I would go through the Christmas Radio Times with different coloured felt pens, marking what we wanted to watch, hoping things didn't clash - no V+ or even video recorders back then! )

pinknfluffy28 - hope your mum's party goes ok, and she has a good time. Luckily she has you to support her at this difficult time. You sound to be doing a lot to make sure it's a great day, well done you!

Pinksteps - think you can buy alcohol from supermarkets whenever they are open. ( Though being a non-drinker, I may be wrong.)

Well folks, last little bits today, then we're done! Working all day tomorrow :( , my favourite day too. Still, looking forward to a relaxing evening with OH and DD, new pjs and a Christmas film. Bliss!!

Have a good day everyone, try not to stress too much! xxx

feeling a bit down at the mo as the laminate floor now not being done till the 27th so have to move tings back to other room so house looks ok and there's room for father xmas!
however what really upsets me is my 2 dd's. Last week i got really mad with them. The house needed tidying so i did all their stuff downstairs and they were sent to do their rooms. When i finish i go up and they are sat watching tv. i have tried reward charts etc to motivate them. They were told next time i would just put their stuff in bin bags as they must not want it if they don't look after it or put it away. Same thing has now happened.
now i'm upset that i have had to do this and don't feel like treating them to our usual xmas eve as i don't see why they should do this but still expect our usual festivities?
am i being mean? what would you do?
I know they have to learn but i love xmas and it has always been a family time.
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. We're travelling up there today, he's having lots of tests done but hopefully I'll be able to see him at some point and he'll be able to come out if hospital. X

Just popped in to say my thanks to the people of this thread, its helped me get organised and pick up a few presents along the way :D

Now, does anyone know when Tesco normally reduce their wrapping paper after the 25th? Planning for 2013 as we speak :o
  • Braved the supermarket last night around 6.30pm, wasn't busy at all. There was a few people with massive trolleys full but it wasn't packed, was the opposite infact and was quite nice to wonder round all relaxed. Think everyone must have gone early as sil mentioned it being packed at 7.30am.

Got an email off dotcomgiftshop saying their sale starts Christmas day. They do have some lovely stuff but don't think I would want to look on Christmas day. Maybe boxing day before we go to oh family :o
