So much for it all being sorted - they are going to get up and go to the shops in the morning tomorrow before our lovely 8 hour round trip to drop her home. Well, that's their business and at least it hasn't altered our 'Christmas day'. Having to get up by 9am will be lesson enough for her as normally during weekends/holidays she doesn't emerge until you drag her up....last time we left her and didn't wake her it got to 3pm before we lost our nerve and venture in to see if she was alive! :rotfl: I can't stay annoyed though as she is such a sweetie in so many other ways. We have just been having fun playing the wii together as dinner cooks away and OH is upstairs making mysterious rustling and sellotape noises :rotfl: I am knackered though and my feet are killing me! Glad someone else is cooking real Christmas dinner this year...
Hope everyone else is having a nice Saturday - can't believe it's so soon! I don't think anything will actually kick in for me until I wake up on Monday morning and DON'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK!0 -
works christmas do tonight, and i really dont fancy it! Have finally got my xmas spirit back, had a great day so far baking, putting together goody bags for kids party tomorrow, and other crafty bits with kids. Now all i want to do is curl up with baileys & watch xmas films! oh well, dh has suggested we go & enjoy the free meal, have a quick drink to be sociable, then make our excuses...sounds like a plan !It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0

ReformedShopaholic hope you can work past this and enjoy your christmas regardless. Try not to let it spoil it for youBecause in my bleakest, beating-myself-up-moments, something (or someone) has always come good for me, I would gladly shout you £30 for taxi if you have Paypal and it meant a night out with your mates. I'm being deadly serious, I don't know the ins and outs of your life obviously and certainly don't want to be patronising but (this being a money saving site) if money IS the barrier to you going out, don't let it be on this occasion.
What a very thoughtful, kind and caring thing to do!! Karma can be a blessing and I hope someone makes such a lovely gesture for you in the very near future
I felt sad reading that
My mum is the 23rd Dec, the one year someone gave her a birthday gift wrapped in Christmas paper, she did the exact same thing to them....in MarchThe point was made. :T
I now have a nephew who is on the 27th and no one would dare try and double up on presents - my sister even clears away some of the Christmas decs and puts up birthday ones for him.
My nieces birthday is also the 27th and my sisters is the 20th, we would never dream of combining the two. Its very clear ones a birthday and one is christmas. I always try and find something really unique for my niece (who is 5 next week - omg thats so scary to actually say it, doesnt seem like yesterday she was born) On her first birthday I bought her a "star" with all the paperwork that came with it, it hangs on her wall and loves hearing my mum (who she lives with along with my dad and her baby brother) talking about how I bought her this star. This year Ive decided to make her a sweetie tree from her fav sweet (mint areo balls) because I know no one would of got her anything near like it for christmas! Cant wait for her birthday to see her face
What a very exhausting few days! Half day yesterday and as soon as I got out of work went around town to do a few bits before meeting up with bf. Traffic was so hectic we decided to skip parking up then and head off to the farm shop for our food list and do the remaining fiddly shops on our way back hoping it would be less busy. Got a great big shop done and only thing we managed to forget from the list was cheese so very good going for us! Thing is (and I believe someone is looking out for us) we only reaised when we got home that the cashier hadnt totalled up one of our bags (which is probably just as well now weve checked the bank balance!) On top of the hairdresser only charging half the normal price on our card as well the night before! (to whoever has been helping us with our pennies I thank you!!) To pay it forward I decided to make a donation to text santa lastnight.
Anyway got the other bits we needed on our way home yesterday and had planned on doing hampers but was far too shattered.
So far today cleaned the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs and trying to keep up with kitchen during baking sessions! All the washing is done, fresh bedding on, oven had a deep clean and only fridge to go now! Turkey and ham came out this morning to start their defrost. Got a batch of truffles, chocolate slabs and fudge all on the go.
Wrapped last of presents for bf today while I had the chance. Finished nieces very own cookie monster cookie jar and just to add all these bakes to the hamper before they are done!
Christmas is quite awkward this year as bf and my family had an argument last year, no longer talking and no invite to dinner so we decided to do our own. parents are sending us a "joint" card according to mum but dont know about gifts, weve both put money in the hampers and both our names will go on them. Ive agreed to spend a few hours on christmas with my family but feel awful leaving bf at home alone. (although no doubt the large amount of booze Ive got and a full stomach should help and will just want peace and quiet to sleep anyway)
Hope everyone is enjoying the build up - have to go finish off baking now as off to see snow patrol tomorrow so everything needs done by 4pm tomorrow at the very latest!!Life is what you make it.0 -
Christmas spirit well and truly here now! :j:j
Got my 3 nieces over night and so far we have made all the pots of gold for the dinner table and now they've each made/decorated gingerbread houses.
Nativity 2 had sold out so we're going to have a Maccy d and then watch Elf and Muppets Christmas Carol
Given them reindeer poo and snowman poo to eat ! They're going t be so high on sugar I'll be lucky if they sleep at all. But that's all part of the fun, especially as my kids are all older now. But 2 of them have been "helping"
Kayandy - I've also had strange smell in the kitchen. Washed floor, inside and under fridge, under dish washer but no trace. Eventually located it to back of outside of fridge. Thermostat has been on the blink and either been freezing everything or nothing at all. Well the smell was .......,YUCK . So a quick trip to dump and now 1 fridge down. Lucky I have one in the garage so will make do until the sales.2015 £2 Saver #82

It is the first thing I have ordered off of there. I may do some of next years shopping on there. But I do find it confusing. I cant even get my orders up. It says I haven't made any orders in the last 30 days. When obviously I have, as I had the DVD delivered today. I ordered that off a link in the Grab-it board.
What a bargain! :j Gutted I missed that one.
Not sure what's going on with your amazon. Maybe a phone call would sort it out? Heard their customer service is good. I use them a lot & would recommend. Many of my gifts (given & received!) have been bought from there.
Well, our day isn't too bad. Have tidied up & cleaned the living room a bit. DH been very helpful & swept the rug. Still more to do, but running out of steam now.
What Christmas film are people watching today/tonight? :xmastree:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Hugs to all that need them.
Busy few days but its all coming together. Went to a charity shop today (one for a local childrens hospice) and they had these amazing little sets with a Santa hat, an elf and its in a bag saying Santa's little helper. They were only £2.50 each! So i got me one, mum one and gran one. Tomorrow we are baking. There is mince pies to make and some biscuits and some Bucks Fizz cupcake mix. Watched Arthur Christmas yesterday and we loved it!“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”

I will second amazon being amazing for customer service, I had ordered something for dh's birthday on Sunday, was meant to arrive thurs but never showed up! Phoned them yesterday and they said Royal Mail hadn't provided any tracking and that it was lost it the post :-( they arranged a refund but guess what came today!! So I phoned them back to tell them I had it and they told me to keep it and I will still get the refund for my trouble - not a meagre amount either, it was £131.75 lol!!! Couldn't believe it!
Similarly I had ordered a toy for dd and the box was ripped so they sent a replacement and let me keep the original too - top marks from them :-)
How is everyone's day going so far? I've gutted the house just to go over the girls bedrooms and bathroom but won't take long (well, dd1's might!!) Dh going to his friends tonight so I'm going to snuggle on the couch with my wee monkeys and watch a Christmassy film and have lots of munchies :-)
Pictures and a meal out tomorrow for dh's birthday
Getting excited now!

Evening lovely ladies (and any men if they are lurking?)
I had a nice day of watching films with the kids.
My next 3 days are
Saturday- did washing, ironed, made a nice tea of steak and wedges and watched Christmas films with the kids.
Sunday- watching more films, making Baileys fudge for sisters pressie, making Christmas cookies for us to munch, finish the paper chains and christmas canvases they had started.
Monday- leae hamper from the Elves with new jammies, Arthur Christmas Dvd, popcorn, slippers, santas magic key, reindeer food, tidy up ready for Santa, make mince pies. Then watch Arthur Christmas and do all the things ready for Santa and early bed.
I just love Christmas eve, it's the best day of the year. So magical and exciting. X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0
