  • Hello everyone, so pleased to hear that you are all feeling more Christmassy and having lovely days.

I've had a lovely weekend. We went to Mum's for a lovely beef roast dinner yesterday with black forest gateaux for pudding. We watching some Christmas films, including ice age Christmas and we nibbled on Christmas chocs, I wrote the christmas cards. All with the lights twinkling :D was lovely.

Then I've woken up this morning to find I've won 2 prizes in a raffle including a lovely dichroic glass necklace worth £75-£100 :DIt's really made my Christmas!

Got to take the shops takings to the bank tonight, so am gonna pop in the supermarket and get some last minute bits and some nibbles as we are having a few friends round on Saturday.

DH does his Christmas shopping on Saturday, he only has his Dad left and me :)

My Mum's a star and she's knitted me 3 hot water bottle covers from some bargain wool I've got and using 3 pound shop hot water bottles. We are giving 2 of them to my DH's Grandma's - one's 93 and the others 91, along with some chocolates/diabetic sweets. They always say they don't want anything but a hot water bottle is very useful!

Still got some wrapping to go, doing a bit each night. Be glad when they've all gone and we get a corner/under the tree clear again.

I will catch up and post properly later but I would like some advice.

I have just written most of my Christmas cards but as I was putting them in the envelopes I noticed they say on the back "please recycle your cards throughout January 2006" would you still send them or is that taking mse a bit too far? OH and I have different opinions:D

    Hello all!

Not been reading the thread for the past week and don't think I'll have time to catch up by Christmas!

Congrats chirpy, hope you're all doing well xx

All ready for Christmas now...almost. Just need to wrap up some pressies tonight that were delivered to work last week whilst I was off, make some fudge for mum (Saturday's job) and rebottle the flavoured vodkas I've done for dad.

All food has been bought (cheating a bit with frozen stuff) and just need to send Hubby to SM on Saturday on his way home from footy to pick up some milk, bread and catfood.

Had a fab week off being Christmassy but didn't make it to Liverpool to see the Coca-cola truck - we'd already spent far too much so gave it a miss.

Bonus day off work on Christmas Eve too :)

Hope you're all sorted for the festivities xxxx

I wouldn't worry about it. Who looks at the back of a card anyway? I don't. It's the thought that counts and anyone who judges you on how old your card is, isn't worth it? Also, it doesn't mean you bought them cheap, just that you bought them a few years ago :D
  • Congratulations Chirpy!

I don't think there is no problems with that. Who reads the back of the cards anyway?

If you really feel like you can't send them (or your OH feels like you can't send them) print off some little labels saying, Don't forget to recycle your cards! and cover the card recycling message with an undated one :money:

    Hello!
off with bad cough today. That has put my wrapping plans back a bit!
Hope everyone else's wrapping is going well.
Risky- sorry haven't been back sooner, yes I'd love to try your soup recipe. I am a big squash fan! My veggie chilli is slightly different each time as I use whatever I have but the spices usually include cumin seeds, ginger, allspice, paprika and chilli.

    Hi Rosygirl,
OK. Recipe is in short hand notes at the moment. I will write it up and send it to you in a few days.
    Cheers

OH said to send them, I was undecided. However I think I will just send them and if anyone gets offended tough. we all have this horrible bug and I don't think I have the energy to worry about them. Plus we have to have the car windscreen repaired as it has a huge crack in it and the drain in the back garden which serves us and two other houses has blocked:mad:
I feel like hibernating. we are supposed to be going away on the 27th which will involves a 1000 plus miles trip so I envisage problems with that if we decide not to go

    sorry for the rant

I haven't read back properly but I do want to say congratulations chirpy that is fantastic news. but what a size! my two were complete opposites ds1 was 8lb8 and ds2 was 6lb13. have a fab Christmas and look after yourself.

rosy girl was it your birthday yesterday? it sounds as bad as mine was - this horrible bug:(

I have loads of cards from quite a few years ago & not once has anyone ever commented on the year on the back. I think 99% of people won't read the back anyway. I buy cards & wrap in the sales because you can get so much more for your money which leaves more to spend of gifts for people. Don't give it another thought & send them out.

Congrats to chirpy on the birth of her baby. Hope you're all doing well.

Christmas eve in a WEEK! How did that happen??? So much to do...

  • Help, what am I doing wrong? I have the lidl choc to make slabs to get 9 children to make slabs for their parents tom. I done a trial in oct and they wouldn't set solid. I even put them in the fridge ad a last result but they melted. Yesterday I done white choc trees and they have gone soft too. I have never had a problem before. Any idea of what to do? I really don't fancy buying all that choc again. Thank you
