nanamia,
Please please please will you be my nan?:) Pretty please?
I spend lots of money on almond/pistachio biscottis and cookies.
any chance you might have an easy almond cookie recipe for me to try with my mini chef and some biscotti to try for myself? I have some recipes I got from cook books etc but it is much nicer when it someone personal recipes that they have been tweaking and doing for years.
Cheers
Sorry to hijack, but made this biscotti yesterday & it's gorgeous!

Just gone through the cupboards etc so i can keep this weeks food bill to the min so we have a lil extra to play with when we do our big xmas shop.. and i've worked out i just need to spend about £20(being generous there) how come i can do that this week and not every other week of the year lol.. Think that might be my new years res.. i got my food budget down to about £60 a week this year.. next year im going to make do with whats in cupboards before replacing etc. Its a year of saving and paying off the last of the bills.
Got to marzipan the cakes today, run out of time yesterday and start on wrapping dh's pressies. Nothing else much xmassy planned just yet.
Oh and i ordered a pair of those gorilla feet slippers (ya knot those that were in the royle family xmas special 'the new sofa' i think it was called) they've been a running joke between me and dh since we have seen that episode so grabbed a pair just to share that lil joke. Hope they come in time!Totally debt free wohooo 2014

I started doing that this year and with going to a farm shop instead of supermarkets we cut our weekly down from £75 to about £45 and thats including extra household stuff. This week our food bill was only £28People think we are made driving 15 miles away to shop every week but for a start the food has literally come from their back field and our car is fab and maybe only costs us a few pound in diesel (and its diesel thats left over from our £20 top up for the working week) so really we are saving over 50% to last year - I sometimes question now were £70 used to go! Never seen cupboards so empty yet we eat really well! lol

Morning all.
Quiet week for me & OH. Just the weekend & Christmas eve being very busy!!
Counting the days down to Friday as OH finishes up work for nearly 3 weeks and finally half the stuff before & after the “big day” can get completed.
“missgigglewick” I know the feeling. Our shopping list from the new year is getting the chop. For 2 adults we’re spending over £75 a week on the shopping, And I’m hoping to cut this right down to maybe £30.
“wee click” Farm shops are great - We have one local which sells the very basic of items, Eggs ect, Cant believe how many savings there are to be made. As above, New year we will be sourcing the best deals from our local ones.
I’ve been wanting to ask, What does Christmas mean to everyone?
I was asked this yesterday at a family lunch at the OH’s and was shocked at some of the replies. From getting presents, To the Christmas soaps was at the top of the “likes”
So….What does Christmas mean for you??
For me, it’s the getting dec’s down, Dressing the tree, Wrapping & family time! Forget the presents, Hate unwrapping anything!Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
Christmas (yule) celebrating the longest night and the start of the longer days, enjoyed by getting together and feasting, the sharing of gifts and thinking about others.
Just a time to reflect on family life really. Can you tell i have pagan beliefs? lolTotally debt free wohooo 2014

Aww, I'm so glad some of you seem to be having lovely xmassy days
Well, I had my whole weekend planned out with getting all the rest of the xmas stuff finished and then got struck down with an evil flu/cold bug and have been in bed for most of it. Am back at work today feeling like death warmed up and pancking that I now have no time left for anything! I don't finish until Friday and was really hoping to avoid town like the plague this weekend as it will be absolutely jam packed and I get quite claustrophobic when it's that busy
Can I ask, I'm planning on making some truffle batches to go in hampers and for a few people who I'm now going to see on the day, so just for a token gift. How far ahead do you normally make them? They usually don't last long in my house so haven't really had to worry about them keeping before :rotfl:0 -
Hello Everyone - Hope all your Christmas plans are going well!!
Not long to go now!
I am over the moon to announce that baby Franklin finally made his appearance 13 days overdue on 13/12/12 at 05:16 weighing in at a eye watering 10lb4!
It was a very traumatic birthboth Mummy & Baby had difficulties but we both thankfully made it through in the end!
We are home (I discharged myself the same day, which in hindsight was a bad idea!!!) Franklin is thriving and is more amazing than I ever dreamed he would be. He has a huge mop of thick black hair, big blue eyes and little sticky out "elf ears" and gorgeous chubby red cheeks.
Im in lots of pain but my hubby is amazinghe even managed to find me the £27 soap & glory set as an extra for under the tree
pictures will follow in a few daysEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
