I'm planning on making frangipane mince pies which always go down a storm, I've had lots of requests for those ( I'm throwing a deaf ear incase DH NEEDS them all! Shortbread which I have to admit is a fav of mine but its great for gifts too. I've bought a set I'd seen used on a shopping channel in tkmax. It's a heart shaped cutter to cut the shortbread and an embossing sheet to print the fondant icing on the top. Can't wait to try that. Bit sickly for me with the fondant so they should be safe! Scones DH loves all year round like to have a supply in the freezer -just in case!
Oooh all sounds lovely! I make a really delicate cardamom shortbread at Christmas, it's fab with coffee and is in truth, the only shortbread recipe I've ever mastered. I'm a bit heavy-handed for that and scones! Do you freeze the scone dough or the baked scones? (Probably a silly question but I'm a wimp when it comes to freezing baking!)I started doing that this year and with going to a farm shop instead of supermarkets we cut our weekly down from £75 to about £45 and thats including extra household stuff.
I would dearly love to use a local farm delivery service (fruit & veg boxes) but they only deliver to my area once a week, in the middle of the day. I love my house but it's possibly most the inconvenient place for deliveries - we're semi-detached but our garage joins us to the next two houses so there's no way to get to my back garden without going through my hallway...:rotfl:sorry, that sounds like a euphemism!! Anyway, the only place they could drop the box is at the front of our house on the drive. I keep coming back to it and I'm sure I'll come up with a solution at some point!PRINCESSX87 wrote: »So….What does Christmas mean for you??
I'm a complete hippy and for me it's how magical it is - something that brings people together and encourages them to believe (or suspend disbelief), to share, to celebrate and to be happy. I know that isn't the reality for everyone but it's the aspiration I have. I am an atheist but I have faith and much of this is invested in people. I love anything that connects us to other humans, so watching a crowd sing together at a music festival or seeing families come together at Christmas, it's all the same to me - magical!
That and all the lovey food and drink, obviously :beer:0 -

I am so relieved to hear that you are both safe and well now, if a little sore. Sounds like Mr Chirpy is doing a super job. Can't wait to see some photos, but only when you are up to it. xxx* Ebay- 1 Bag a Day *0 -

Congratulations!! :j
My sister had a very big baby and a terrible birth after being induced and it took a while for her to come to terms with everything that happened. I'm not of the opinion that 'women give birth every day and have done for centuries' - what you've just been through is a big deal and you should be proud of yourself! I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful, rested and relaxed Christmas and New Year!0 -
