  • Am so looking to Fri as am finishing work til 2nd Jan. Lots of lovely lie ins and long dog walks, so hoping for crisp cold weather rather than the promised rain.
Trying to maintain Christmas spirit but best friends Dad is in hospital very ill with bladder cancer. Am taking my Mum to Dr tomorrow as she is having problems swallowing and is not eating very much. She has got something in her throat and is being referred in early Jan to ENT but we have to get through Christmas 1st. It's horrible when its our parents as we are so used to them being the ones being strong for us.
Going to take my 3 Nieces to see Nativity 2 this Sun, got them overnight so plenty of Christmas activities planned. Rudolph monopoly all ready to be played. 4 Gingerbread houses to be made!!
Congratulations to Chirpychick on the safe arrival of your very own ds. Enjoy him - the house doesn't fall down if its not dusted!! But you won't get all that cuddle time back.
Hugs o all who need them

  • Just need to get to Friday and then I can finally start enjoying the lead up to Christmas. My jam needs to be taken out of the jars and have water added to it as it has set like a jelly :( I read that blackberries had little pectin so decided to add half a cup of lemon juice, bad idea :( Fingers crossed it's salvageable!

Am going to be good and scrap some of the Christmas bakes I had planned as it is just far too much for the little time I have left. No one will actually notice, as no-one knows what was supposed to be in them ;)

I had planned to de-coupage the tops of my jars to make them a bit prettier, but who knows if I will have the time. I think it is going to be a long night.....

To get the presents what wasn't instores.
    OH needs his eye test.
Off to OH parents to deliver some presents for his side of family.
Nip to get our food shop.
Get to my side of the family

i still cant believe the tab came with kindle installed and it wont work lol.
what do u think of the tab apart from kindle problems? i think its good for what we payed, the kids are well pleased with theirs x

It is great for the money. Dd loves hers . I get a but more frustrated with mine, but I think the book thing is just getting to me. Being able to read my books on it was one of the only reasons I got one.
Could you please ask you kids how to get books from my kindle on laptop to Calibre ? I have downloaded it, but when I try to add book it takes me to documents. And my books aren't there. Thanks x

    Morning all.

Chirpy, many congratulations!!! A beautiful son, how wonderful.

Sorry for not popping in this last week or so, truth be told, I lost my Christmas spirit, the same time as my darling cat Turbo went missing. He's still not home, and I miss him dreadfully, but I'm trying to be positive and am clawing back my festiveness!

All the trees are up now. This is the one in the lounge room.

I've also put trees up in the hall and dining room. Need to shake off my gloomy mood and thought If I made the house as festive as possible, it would help, and it is helping to brighten my mood.

Off out this morning (really need to get out of my pj's) to finish off my last bit of christmas gift shopping.

Hope everyone is fine and well this morning. Lots of love and hugs to all. xxxx

Ooh, I need to do something similar with my marmalade....it has set VERY hard :( I thought it might be hopeless but would you mind telling me what exactly you are planning to do to yours? I'd love it if I could salvage my yummy clementine and Cointreau marmalade!
  • Congrats Chirpy, hope Franklin brings lots of fun and laughter.

Had my brother for dinner last night as it was our last chance to see each other until new year. Made a curry and for dessert (we don't usually eat desserts) I had bought individual Christmas puddings from Lidl. At about £1 each, they are expensive in comparison to family sized ones, but as there was no waste, worth it. My god, we were really surprised at them, they were delicious, very nutty if you like that, not a huge amount of alcohol in them. So much so, we are both off there to get some, will be fab to keep in cupboard for some day when you just want something.
A smile costs little but creates much :)
