Hi, will catch up in a bit. Trying to get my last 2 pressies for my sisters. Honest opinion please, is a cake pop maker a rubbish gift? My sister loves baking, and I can't think what to get her. Our budget is £20 so it's perfect, plus I've a voucher I won that I can get her a Cake pop book to go with it.
She doesn't have kids, but often makes cakes for our family do's, so I could see her making them then. But can't decide if it's naf or not.

OMO-we all have a breaking point & she's clearly pushed you to yours. There's only so long that you can bite your tounge/make allowances for people. I've recently lost it with a 'friend' after biting my tounge and letting her get away with far too much for far too long. Now she's out of my life & I'm much happier for it. Here's to a happier Christmas...:xmassign:

still catching ups to you and own my own

own my own I applaud you, I had to do something similar many years ago with my dad, although I never really had the chance to say those things as he would just shout over you until you gave up, so I cut him out of my life and never regretted it, as others had said, you have a breaking point and you have reached it, one day you realise it is effecting your life and there is nothing positive about the relationship, in fact it is toxic, you are very courageous and I hope you now have a wonderful Christmas xxx

ruth-honey it is so hard to cut out a 'friend' isnt it? if you are like me you keep thinking you are being unfair and it must be you imagining it, I had a 'friend' for years who I helped through a break up, always helped with anything logistical like dropping stuff for her, was always a shoulder, drove over to walk her dogs when she couldnt get home at lunchtime, even though it was miles away etc. The one time I asked her for help she was 'too busy' and then she ripped into me over something crazy a year or so ago, to do with the children and a party, I couldnt believe it and nor could anyone else, she then blanked me and ive not seen her since. People have told me since she is a user, so my feeling all along was right, I just didnt want to admit it :( Well done you for cutting somebody like that our of your life too, its really brave and I hope you feel happier without them, Im sure you have a lot of lovely friends who appieciate you xx

How do you normally make cake pops? If you need a machine then I say go for it. However if you dont I would be hesitant. I quite like baking cakes but wouldnt use one of those cup cake makers if you know what I mean as its just as easy and less messy using cake cases and the oven imo. So Im not sure - which isn't very helpful :rotfl:

You can make them by hand, but it involves making a cake, crumbling it up and mixing with buttercream/frosting, roll into balls and leave to set before dipping. This machine makes perfect balls in 4mins and you just pop in some raw cake mix. So a bit easier, I'm just not sure if she needs it in her life lol x

  • I was thinking the same! The Christmas rush has descended ;)

Thank you to all of you that suggested how to display jewellery. I went to £land and they had a metal pot stand in that awful clothes drier white. Decided to buy it and then try to cover it in some way to disguise its actual use. Wilko had hot pink metal spray in a small can for just under £4. It was my first time using a spray can, the fumes were awful and I now have a lovely pink area on the walls of my craft room  (luckily we have a tin of spare wall paint). The finished article is far from perfect, but with the bauble hooks I picked up (also from £land) I should be able to display my jewellery beautifully :)

Have scrapped the real Christmas tree idea :( we are fast running out of budget and it seems an extravagance. If I can find a small 2ft tree for under £5 I may pick that up (suggestions?)

I highly doubt I will be doing another fete, even if by some miracle I manage to sell out. It has been weeks of stress and after looking at everything last night, I have very little to sell. I had so much planned but not the time to do it in. I have been robbed of precious Christmas time and feel like it has leeched most of my festive spirit :(

What about something like this if you have a lidl nearby

    Hi all,

It does seem quiet on here, I guess everyone is off making shiny Christmas things and grabbing bargins :)

Well, I've got my Christmas spirit back today as my Christmas book is out :j:jI'm so excited and it's the most surreal feeling seeing my name on Amazon. Hope I'm not breaking any rules here but if anyone would like a look the link is:

Am off to hop round my office some more (it's a good job we're not open plan!)
