It's ever so quiet on here tonight. It's a little unnerving!
Aliaslotte be thinking of you tomorrow - fingers toes and antlers crossed x

I was thinking the same! The Christmas rush has descended ;)

Thank you to all of you that suggested how to display jewellery. I went to £land and they had a metal pot stand in that awful clothes drier white. Decided to buy it and then try to cover it in some way to disguise its actual use. Wilko had hot pink metal spray in a small can for just under £4. It was my first time using a spray can, the fumes were awful and I now have a lovely pink area on the walls of my craft room  (luckily we have a tin of spare wall paint). The finished article is far from perfect, but with the bauble hooks I picked up (also from £land) I should be able to display my jewellery beautifully :)

Have scrapped the real Christmas tree idea :( we are fast running out of budget and it seems an extravagance. If I can find a small 2ft tree for under £5 I may pick that up (suggestions?)

I highly doubt I will be doing another fete, even if by some miracle I manage to sell out. It has been weeks of stress and after looking at everything last night, I have very little to sell. I had so much planned but not the time to do it in. I have been robbed of precious Christmas time and feel like it has leeched most of my festive spirit :(

ETA Now showing out of stock, but bestie mate phoned them and they said they should be getting more in . Also check all your local stores. They told her there wasn't any, but the Ipswich store (20 mins away) had them.
  • Hi everyone

I agree with Nanamia, it's very quiet on here at the moment! Hope everyone is ok, just busy shopping , decorating, stuffing chestnuts etc.
Hugs to all who need / want them, especially those having family problems.

Funny isn't it, how Christmas seeems to bring out the best in some people , and the worst in others. My Grandad, bless him, used to say
"God gives you your family, thank God you can choose your friends"
( even tho we have a great family lol). So glad we have this thread and our "let it snow" family to listen and help.

Busy day for me today. Tomorrow is " our" Christmas Day, so today is a day of cleaning and cooking! My ds and ddil live up in Newcastle, and this is the only w/end they can get down, due to work / other commitments. So we always have the big day whenever they can come. Then on the 25th we just celebrate quietly with my mum and dd.

Finished wrapping their hamper last night, cellophaned and everything! Looks quite good for a first attempt. Have bought all presents now, just 1 for dd still to wrap - DH came home with something else for her the other night, she's a lucky girl. ( Actually we're both lucky, he spoils us both :) )

DH has just phoned to warn me not to go out today unless absolutely neccessary - black ice on the roads. So please take care everyone, no time for trips to A & E !

Will be back later to check on everyone. Have a good day x
  • Think im the only one not in a rush for xmas to come lol.. that means it will all be over with :( and i'll be back boring everyone else with preparing for next year lol... I even thought about saving next year and having a couple of days made xmas shopping.. but then i'll miss out on all the fab bargains we all find won't i...

This year is the first year in 16yrs i've not gone to a childs xmas production.. feeling a bit of a loss at that one.. Though if its nice on tuesday i get to see dd3 sing in the highstreet (her singing with the drifters seems a life time ago now, though was only 6 weeks) Next year dd4 will be at nursery so looking forward to that.

I think i need to sit and work out when to take turkey and ham etc out of the freezer. Times to cook etc. I've got a few pressies left to wrap (dh, families and the few which are still coming through the post i forgot i had ordered oops) so shall get most of that done this weekend. And make some snowmen soup lollies with dd3 to give to her friends oh and ice the xmas cake! if i remember the apricot jam!

    Hope everyone is ok!

Thought I would share this with all you Christmas crazy people http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2247590/Christmas-cul-sac-festive-light-displays-big-drain-power-grid.html

It is just around the corner from us and we take the kids every year to see it, I love it!

We are 20 mins drive :santa2: from there and took the children a couple of years ago, I loved it! Must try to go again this year although I doubt my bahumbug teen will enjoy it. :rotfl:

He was very good last night though as he went up into the attic and got all the decs down for me (DH is away and I can't get up there easily). It's a very dusty, mucky business (old cottage)so he did a brill job. :T He also found 3 boxes that didn't come down last year and I kept saying to DH that we were missing some stuff, so now I am overrun with boxes full of decs- I swear they breed up there. :rotfl: Oh, and I've also got the stuff we bought back from my mom's as well- I REALLY need a good sort out in January! :o

It's very wet, wild and windy here today. I am off to sort out the toy filled chaos that is our family room so that we can put the tree up tomorrow.
I also have to decide what to do for a treat on Sunday as it's my birthday and I can subject everyone to whatever cheesy Christmas activity that I wish! :snow_laug

Sending Hugs all around, esp to Chirpy- can't wait for news!

Oh I doubt my words did anything. We are always being told 'This is me , if you don't like it f*** off' . I think the difference this time, is I don't care anymore.

(I am always telling her in my head aswell) :D

Oh dear! Well I suppose all we can do is make sure our lives are as good as they can be and let them get on with their own however frustrating it is! x

it was a struggle to get up but did it anyway and feel much better for it :D Gave BF birthday present lastnight (even though its not until end of Jan) but its a fitbit, tracks everything, the floors you climb, steps, cals burned, and sleep activity! Very pleased and shocked to wake up and find had burnt 523 while sleeping!! Back again tomorrow morning, will prob kick up a fuss getting up early again but love it once ive done it lol

Well done for sticking to it!! Wow, 523 cals whilst your sleeping?? That might explaing why I always wake up hungry!! :o

Sorry I have missed the post about your tree? But in Asda Tuesday night I did see a pink 3 ft tree for £3 but they may have green? Only caught my eye as I saw someone selling one exactly the same on face book for £5 :o
Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:

Wow I want to live in that cul-de-sac! :D I don't have any Christmas lights outside, now we've bought a house I really want some but I can't bring myself to buy anything now as I know it will all be reduced in a couple of weeks!
  • Sorry for all of the posts - I just had a few things I wanted to comment on! It is a bit quiet here isn't it, I was surprised wen I logged on this morning that there was only one new page and not eight! Everyone must be busy with their Christmas preparations!

I finally finished my shopping last night apart from an orange and some nuts for my OH's stocking. I think he finds it strange getting those in his stocking but I always had them growing up so now I do it for him! We still need to get some locally brewed beers for his dad but he is getting those so as far as i'm concerned i'm finished! I wanted to be finished by the beginning of Dec so i'm 14 days overdue, but this is good for me, I have never been finished this early. I usually always end up having to dash out to get something on Christmas Eve! I have been wrapping a few presents each day since the beginning of Dec so I haven't got much more to wrap and then it is just a case of putting my hampers together.

I'm hosting my annual dinner party for my friends tomorrow night so just getting the finishing touches sorted out and looking forward to that! I'm feeling quite festive at the mo! :xmassmile

Hope everyone else is doing ok and hope you're managing to fit everything into your day sugarspun!
