Hi, will catch up in a bit. Trying to get my last 2 pressies for my sisters. Honest opinion please, is a cake pop maker a rubbish gift? My sister loves baking, and I can't think what to get her. Our budget is £20 so it's perfect, plus I've a voucher I won that I can get her a Cake pop book to go with it.
She doesn't have kids, but often makes cakes for our family do's, so I could see her making them then. But can't decide if it's naf or not.

Apparently the ones made using the machines just taste like cupcakes (& can be quite dry) whereas the ones made crumbling cake are more moist. Have heard that they aren't worth it(sorry!). What about getting some cake pop accessories? Or a cake decorating book, or make a hamper with cakey decorations?0 -
Bought my sister the s & g set from Boots, no mad queues here. Can't wait to give it to her as she'll love it and is not expecting it at all. :j
On other news my eldest ds has properly broken up with his girlfriend and moved back to his Dads. I'd done them a joint staying in hamper, so now I don't know what to do with the contents. I can give him some of the male stuff and he'll also be expecting a stocking now (the hamper was an easier version for me) Any ideas for a 23 year old? He's got every DVD he needs. I feel so sad about it especially as its so close to Christmas
Also had bought her the Ted baker set this week - suppose that's a start on the birthdays for next year. She also has a little boy and I'd been buying bits for him and was looking forward to seeing his reaction. Oh well....:(
Sorry but that has made me lose my Christmas sparkle.....off for leg waxing now, maybe the pain will take my mind off it!!2015 £2 Saver #82

Thank you. I was having a panic. I've ended up getting her a cake pop book, lolly sticks, some candy melts and a lovely Mason & cash mixing bowl she has always fancied. I'm just over budget.
Thanks again for the advice. It's hard to decide when you cant see any other option. Just a little nudge in the right direction x:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Hi everyone
It is very quite on here! Ive been feeling very unfestive, money worries and just cant sort the flat out, everythings such a mess! Havent even had my christmas tree lights on yet and we put it up on the 2nd!! I have all my brothers/sisters coming round on Sunday too, so much tidying up and party food to cook. *sigh* Dont know whats wrong with me, most people are excited its 12 sleeps to go but think Im depressed because its nearly over!
Theres been nothing festive about DS' school this year either, no xmas fete, he cant have xmas lunch as he was absent when they gave the letters out and by the time I found out the chef had already placed her orders, looks like no christmas party as have had no letter about that and they break up in a week and no xmas crafts except for one card they coloured in. Christmas concert next week, thats one thing I suppose! Think Ill put some xmas music on and try to jolly myself up a bit.
Waiting anxiously for news from chirpychick! :j
Well done Podperson, must be great to see your name on Amazon!'They only had one cow!'0 -
Oh what a day, and it is not 3 yet !!!!
As I said in this mornings post, I ordered 2 tablets from Carphone Warehouse. £44.50 each (down from £99)
I then phoned my bestie who tried to order 2, but they were out of stock. So she phoned head office to be told all local stores out of stock aswell. She then phoned me back (we are now at about 8.15 this morning). So I go online again and see Ipswich (40 mins away have some showing). Bestie then rings here Dad who is working there to get her one.
Roll on to 11ish, she rings me to say her Dad has opened it, and it is great. I then check my conformation email again to discover it is not a conformation email, even though it says it is.
I ring Ipswich, who say they cannot reserve them because of price.
I then ring head office who say they will not be honouring my order as they are out of stock.
I explain about Ipswich, and he gives me an ID number. I then ring Ipswich back with this number, and they are now holding 2 until tomorrow. This is not a reservation as I have already paid for them.:j
So tomorrow me and dd are off to Ipswich to collect pads and are going to see 'Rise of the Guardians' while we are there. (using tesco vouchers left over from Bury)
Those tablets had better be there or there will be trouble.:rotfl:
One is for dd as an extra pressie, but I will let her have it tomorrow, as she will be with me. No point hiding it for a week, when she could be using it.
(May keep her quiet for a while as well):)0 -
Have made cake truffles (cake pops minus the stick;)) by hand and the length of time it took has put me off doing it again. That said if the machine makes them dry it's pointless going through the effort of decorating. Your hamper sounds miles better anyway
That lidl tree is perfect! Will be seeing if my local one has any in stock tomorrownow to put the batteries on charge for the lights
I have antlers and a flashing nose to wear in the hopes of attracting sales :rotfl:2024 Challenges

On a Christmassy note - does anyone know of a place on the highstreet that I could buy a plain black tote bag? I am off to exchange gifts with my best Friend next Wednesday (she moved to London) and I wanted to print her up a keep calm personalised tote bag, but I'm not going to have time to wait for the post
Anyone want to rescue me? X2024 Challenges

I LOVE baking, and have actually brought one of these for my DD (6), personally it would be a cool gadget, but i would probably only use it a few times and then it linger in the back of a cupboard, they have some fabulous baking books on amazon, unlike most normal women i dont collect handbags.i collect cook books, i could recommend a few if you like?0 -

own my own I applaud you, I had to do something similar many years ago with my dad, although I never really had the chance to say those things as he would just shout over you until you gave up, so I cut him out of my life and never regretted it, as others had said, you have a breaking point and you have reached it, one day you realise it is effecting your life and there is nothing positive about the relationship, in fact it is toxic, you are very courageous and I hope you now have a wonderful Christmas xxx
ruth-honey it is so hard to cut out a 'friend' isnt it? if you are like me you keep thinking you are being unfair and it must be you imagining it, I had a 'friend' for years who I helped through a break up, always helped with anything logistical like dropping stuff for her, was always a shoulder, drove over to walk her dogs when she couldnt get home at lunchtime, even though it was miles away etc. The one time I asked her for help she was 'too busy' and then she ripped into me over something crazy a year or so ago, to do with the children and a party, I couldnt believe it and nor could anyone else, she then blanked me and ive not seen her since. People have told me since she is a user, so my feeling all along was right, I just didnt want to admit itWell done you for cutting somebody like that our of your life too, its really brave and I hope you feel happier without them, Im sure you have a lot of lovely friends who appieciate you xx
Thank you for that. The thing that's upset me more is that I think I've lost another friend thanks to her. I've got no proof, but I have a feeling she's been bad mouthing me to a mutual friend who is now not replying to my messages. This other girl (Y) has been a friend for much longer and should know me, but I think the ex friend (J) has been telling her lies and making me look bad. But if Y is just taking her word for it and deciding not to speak to me then is she really worth having as a friend? She's quite easily led, so if J has been feeding her stories, Y has probably believed them. J is very manipulative. It has upset me because it turned very nasty and she said/emailed some very hurtful things, but looking back over the past year, she's not been a very nice friend for about 6 months. I made allowances for her a lot, and the reason she was annoyed with me was so silly. I hadn't visited her in hospital or texted her often enough!!! I'm very sorry, but I do have things going on in my life which took over. She's one of those 'the world has to revolve around her' kind of people.
Anyway, enough about her. I've got some lovely friends who support & care about me and I don't need toxic friends in my life.
Back to Christmas...:xmastree:
This weekend is my 'play Santa' weekend, as I'm delivering loads of presents to family & friends. Came to Gloucester this afternoon and was going to have a quiet afternoon wrapping the presents I left here last visit. Except mum couldn't find them and therefore they're not here to wrap! She's not back from work until midnight, so I'll have to find them then & wrap early in the morning!
Blooming cold here too, although I think it was colder yesterday. Mum's friend fell over on some ice right outside their front door yesterday & hit their head & bit their tounge! Owwww. So, be very careful, everyone!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
