No buying unnecessary toiletries in May - Challenge

One IN today and an OUT I missed over the weekend:
IN - Fish Hairdressing Co Hot Fish Protective Straightening Mist to replace the Schwarzkopf one I used up yesterday. Not had anything from this brand before so will be intrigued to see what it's like.
OUT - Nails Inc Hyde Park base coat. WNBA as whilst it did bond well to the nail polish it didn't make an enormous difference to the condition of my nails. Still got another bottle in the stash though."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
a TA, my urban decay lush lash system has given me an eye infection exactly where i put it on my eyelid last night. looks like the serum must have gone off as well as the mascara bit :mad:0

Best of luck to those on the Live Below The Line challenge (I didn't realise it was happening - it's very interesting). :T
EvilSquid - how annoying about the UD Lash system. Is it worth photographing your eye and returning the lash stuff? (A pain, I know, but it's expensive...)
SuiDreams - it sounds like you are really getting organised this month! Good like with your targeted things to UU
I have my INS from the SalonSkincare sale to declare. I ordered them in April but they've only just arrived - April IN or May IN? (I kind of want it to be April and then I can still aim for a good May :rotfl:) My Becca palette got smashed up in the postI'm getting it replaced though (I hope!)
So...INS. Lots of them...
All Snowberry, all heavily reduced (from crazy prices )
Nourishing Rich Day Cream
Nourishing Lite Day Cream
Bright Defence Day Cream No.2
Bright Defence Day Cream No.3
Gentle Remineralising Toner
Intensive Renewal Face Serum
Snowberry is a natural brand from New Zealand that I had read a lot of good things about but was way out of my price bracket. Then this weird sale popped up on Salon Skincare with massively reduced prices and I went a bit crazy! It was a warehouse clearance sale and it looks like they don't stock Snowberry anymore, so it was a bit of a one-off (things were selling out even as I tried to check out).
Also, I bought
A'kin Lavender & Geranium Body Moisturiser for £2.60 when it's normally £14.99
A'kin Orange Blossom Body Wash x 2 - smells beautiful
A'kin Jasmine Body Wash - not so beautiful :rotfl:
I'm putting most of this away until I've finished a few more things. The only thing I've opened is the Remineralising Toner as I was super-curious about what it's like. So far all I've discovered is that it's an alarming dark brown colour and it's nothing like a toner, but more of a wash off cleanser. Weird!! :rotfl:0 -
Hi all
. I have an inadvertent out. I opened up the no7 hand cream the other evening at my aunties and appear to have left it there. Hopefully she'll use it up.
I'm much less hungry today than I was yesterday on account of far better planning and a much shorter day. I worked last night so just wanted to eat all night long! It was a struggle with a slow shift and only 1 cup of coffee.
Today I have had a bagel with hm marmalade for breakfast. An egg sandwich at lunch followed by a little jelly pot. I will be having the same tea as yesterday.
In my costings I have been just working out the cost of each item I eat or drink and then tallying it at the end of the day. This is giving me a chance to eat better than if I went out with £5 and tried to buy a weeks shop. I had an interesting ferret through my recipe books earlier on. I figured that I can make bagels for 5.6p each (excluding the cost of electrickery). We love bagels in our house so am definitely going to try these out and they may become a constant staple made once or twice a month and frozen for breakfast use.
The cheap eggs are so much smaller than the ones I get from my colleague. They just aren't the same quality. Oh well, it is only for 5 days. I'm sure I can last it out. I definitely would struggle more if I did not have access to a freezer, cooker, fridge and approved foods. I can see myself having a hot curry tomorrow night I have some whoopsies ones in the freezer. 20p per dish and very filling.
I am struggling with the 3 meal option. It does not work well for my metabolism. I am very much a little and often eater. At least I can do this with the couscous.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

I will post the result of this weekends argument later when I've had time to decide whether to keep it, return it, or gift it to one of the sons girlfriends.
Wondercollie - I hope that your weekend wasn't as bad as you feared. It sounds like you're in a very difficult situationI'm sending hugs your way, for what it's worth
I think that I'm an emotional shopper too. I'm working hard on breaking that link but it's tough. Being here definitely helpsI'm finding that the more that I concentrate on enjoying using what I have, the better that I'm doing (the above INS disproving this completely, of course :rotfl:). I really want to declutter and to get the most out of what I have...

Kaz - do you have to stick to 3 meals for the challenge or is the 3 meal limit because you have so little money for each day?
I can't imagine being able to do this...It's very sobering.
(We have hens so I know what you mean about the difference in the eggs).
I hope the hungry feeling stays away as long as possible!0 -
It's the organisation mainly, I needed to get organised enough to make some snacks for during the day. I think that those of us who are doing it om this site do have an added advantage over others in that we have the old style board for ideas. I have also looked at weezl's website for ideas as there are some very cheap meal ideas on there.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

EvilSquid - how annoying about the UD Lash system. Is it worth photographing your eye and returning the lash stuff? (A pain, I know, but it's expensive...)
prob not now, tbhit is full of glitter and black specks of eyeshadows and eyeliner that obv didn't get properly cleansed off and were picked up by the brush and so i suspect their reaction would just be "well look at it! no wonder it gave you an infection!" its also well out of the 6 months Period After Opening on the tube too. i got it last year well before my wedding to give it chance to work so i suspect its at least 12 months old or more now.
I've got a mini lash serum that i got in a sephora set so when the puffiness goes down i'll use that one up while i look for the most :money: way to buy the UD one, prob be a debenhams 10% or bonus point day. thankfully they seem to do a sale every other week atm :rotfl:0 -

I'm trying to encourage myself to do better this month and I think being organised is the way to do it. My reward for doing well this month will be buying myself Benefit HighBeem in June.0 -
Kaz - I'm sure it's a real shock to the system for people that aren't already trying to be :money: Are you taking part with your Son as a school event? I've never heard of Weezl before today - so many interesting things pop up on this thread! :rotfl:
EvilSquid - ha! That's a shameI'm glad that you got good use out of it before it turned on you and caused an eye infection...It's worth re-buying then?
SuiDreams - I love High Beam and my bottle has lasted for years (doesn't sound v hygienic but it seems to be fine and I only use a teeny amount at a time). I like the idea of choosing something lovely as way of being encouraged to do well(I don't deserve any treats this months after today's INS
)
