I have 3 , never used any of them. In fact they are a pain in the bum they block your oyster card from working when they are all in the wallet together, so you have to take the oyster card out to use it.

It's not such a bad thing carrying more than one contactless card around with you. There is a risk that if someone could get close enough to you, like on a crowded tube in London for example they could get your card details by the signals these cards send out. But they can be blocked by having more than one card in your wallet in a similar way to how your oyster card was blocked :-)

Yeah , true, swings and roundabouts. Invent a card that is contactless and then work out how we can stop them being contactless :D

Bit like smartphones, invent a phone with more features than a swiss army knife and then turn them all off so you can actually get a days phone calls out of it.

    Hi there.

I am 15 and have 2 current accounts running with HSBC and Lloyds at this time. I am looking for a current account available for my age that will provide me with a Contactless card.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I strongly suspect that one day contactless credit cards will become the norm so you will eventually have one. I don't understand why some people are so eager to get their hands on one, the vast majority of outlets DON'T have contactless terminals. Even when you are able to make a contactless transaction the amount has to be under fifteen pounds and the time saved is only a matter of seconds. I have two contactless Barclaycards and sometimes I even forget to use the contactless feature in Pret A Manger or McDonald's. Basically this feature is a gimmick which is why I struggle to relate to peoples urgency to use it.

Truth be told; I couldn't care any less about how you feel regarding the efficiency of Contactless cards.

At no point did I question the efficiency of contactless cards, I simply said that the time they save is minimal at best. Your response shows that you are not particularly articulate or on the ball. The truth is that you are in awe of the technology and you probably have too much time on your hands. :rotfl:

So you don't feel that the speed or number of retailers accepting Contactless card payments relate to the efficiency of the process? Your original post seems to contradict this.

On my previous post, I'd like to add that I couldn't care less about anything else you have to say either. Also; I'm sure Bloomberg wouldn't be too happy with you using their name in this context, either.[/QUOTE

Most big companies including banks are very good at making people think that they need things which they don't really need. You are just the sort of person who they love as they have you yearning for something which is of very little use.

The contactless system is effecient in the sense that if you have a lot of people queuing up to pay for very low value goods it will save a few seconds with each customer. As an individual consumer the time saved is minimal at best. If Barclaycard were to revoke my contactless card and replace it with a standard one I would be totally unphased and wouldn't even ask why.:T
