The long road to being mortgage free!

My mortgage "deal" (read "robbery") ends next December moneycurious (so I'm sad too
) so I can't see that sticking around that much. Think it was with Chelsea something or other, I just had a quick look on Moneysupermarket just for approximate rates to play with - had a very high fee though so may not be that good a deal in the long run, I didn't work it out properly, I just wanted a number to play with for the calculator
Yes its a LTV of at least 60% Edinburgher.
nattypants - they do still have the offer on. Depending if you prefer the cash or the points, they have a code for £6 of points when you spend £60 rather than the £5 off fragrance.
Keep sending those eBay vibes people!
On £5.50 on DY, my enthusiasm is waning but I will plod on regardless. It is all for the greater good. More adpoints as well today, nothing else in the MFW to report. No food shopping today or for the foreseeable future this week.
Looking for a large over the mantlepiece oak/oak effect mirror at the moment. Attempting to keep the cost under £80 but for the size we need it is quite hard to do! Found some from an oak supplier on eBay which is looking like the best option currently. Will keep looking! I think it will be our christmas present to each other as we are fed up of looking at a blank wall!0 -
Where do you get all your energy from?MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

Evening Ammonite
I sympathise with your fixed rate position as I'm in a similar one - I have to wait til next June! It's frustrating isn't it. At least with keeping an eye on them all when you can change you will know what to do for the best :T

Yes its a LTV of at least 60% Edinburgher.
Don't you fancy the Tesco 1.99% for 2 years, or are the fees too high?0 -
MRN - :rotfl: I couldn't feel less energetic if I tried
Some of the cleaning is definitely nesting I think. I am enjoying not working and am beginning to wonder how I ever DID go to work!:rotfl:
Edinburgher - yes did fancy the 1.99% from Tesco but by the time I need my mortgage that product realistically probably won't be available and we'll probably be looking at something around 3%. I like the idea of longer term fixing as interest rates are only going one way and I don't like shelling out fees every couple of years. May change my mind by next year
Bookworm - Yes really frustrating. I saw a great 10 year fix not long ago but it wasn't work paying the early repayment charge just to go on the 10 year fix. We basically would have lost all the savings we would have made on the mortgage by paying the early repayment charge.
Ducked out of DY today, just couldn't be botheredNo adpoints either
A very lazy day all round in fact!
eBay ends tomorrow night, some items have gone up to an acceptable level of sale, others have not. Hope for a good bidding day tomorrow! 21/41 will currently sell. Lots have watchers on too.0 -
Sending you lots and lots and lots of lucky lemons for exceptionally high ebay bids this evening ammonite:dance::dance:February13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D
C'mon nattypants:cool:0 -

I hear this a lot, but I can't see any basis for it in the short term. Many esteemed commentators have called rises wrong, on too many occasions for me to be too concerned. From memory, I think MSE has done a few of these *fix now* type pieces before events that never happened.
All I have seen recently is that the support for lending scheme has *brought down* the cost of mortgage borrowing and unsecured lending, to an extent. They can put a bow on a pig as much as they like with the economy, but house prices have started dipping in some areas and I'm not sure that we'll see a recovery with any pace.
Suffice to say I'm still hopeful of reasonable rates when we remortgage in 2014 :eek:0 -
natty - those vibes are working! 27/41 will sell and for much better prices too!
edinburgher - I think I like long term fixes after hearing horror stories of mortgage rates jumping to 15% in the late 80's from my parents. Its bugged me a bit to be paying about 2% more interest than we need to these past five years because of the fix but at least I know we can afford those repayments and we had security there for five years. I do like your saying "put a bow on a pig"never heard that before!
HelenDaveKids - did you manage to get the perfume? I hope so
eBay is doing well, pleased with most of the prices now. I've been cleaning the house like a madwoman, you wouldn't believe my office is the same room!
Found a mirror that I'm not as keen on as the eBay mirror but at less than half the price I think I might go for it and let it grow on me a bit more!
Finished wrapping my Christmas presentsLiterally all of them are now wrapped. I have about 3 vouchers to buy and them I'm done and dusted. Feels odd to be so organised!

Ammonite you have been busy - well done on the ebay stuff. Is it meor sometime do you ever feel like its to much hassle and cant be bothered....... when we refurbed the house we dold the entirety of the house, toilet, bath, doors light fittings, if it wasnt being kept it went!!! all re invested into teh house though.
Hope the cheque has arrived!!!!Dec 2011 £141,000 / dec 2013 £135,000/ Jan 2014 £131,000 / July 2014 £129 0000 -
Oh moneycurious - eBay is THE WORST! Until you see the money come in! Equally I can't believe what carp some people can buy. Stuff I was going to throw out has sold for like £7 a pop tonight - weird !
Got about 7 more items to sell (all of which will sell). Think back of the envelope calculations suggest I've made around £120 profit from tonights sales
Put the last few bits on (unless I find more) so have about 15 more listings set for a week.0
