Who Gets The Ring?

If he paid for it, hold your head up high and give it back...0

If my friends called off a wedding close enough to the day that they'd already received presents, I don't think it would even occur to me to expect my present back, bigger things happening!
A gift is a gift, its an incredibly simple concept. You give it to somebody because you want them to have it, once you give it its theirs. If you want to start putting conditions on gifts its best not to give them at all.
If the engagement ring is actually a dowry, all parties should be clear about that before the exchange takes place, maybe have a contract drawn up too.0 -

Should she get back from him everything he has that she paid for?
An xbox is not given as a token of future marriage.
I hope. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

I can see your point of view but I just can't agree, I think this is something we just have completely different viewpoints on. It's not a standard gift in my opinion. There is an obvious difference between an engagement ring and as xbox for example, as suggested in your next post. There is no need to get every gift back from each other but this is a completely different example.
I also don't think a physical contract is necessary. Do you not agree with me that an engagement ring is given on the pretense that a wedding will happen and both parties are agreed on this?0 -

Sorry to do a second post but I have to know, what does happen if a man proposes and his girlfriend says no? I've never proposed so I wouldn't know but I'd presume that the woman doesn't keep the ring in this circumstance.
She'd be an utter bitch if she did
TBH, I suspect she wouldn't actually accept it in which case it never even leaves his possession."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I think he meant 'premise'. But I think you know that he means 'expectation' or similar

You never know, he might have been suggesting she was faking it to get a ring!0
