Awesome. I love that! I even had one poopie coworker rave about some chocolate ones I made, before she knew they were my (vegan) creation. Ha!Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0

Talking about great vegan cakes there is a great vegan cafe in Newcastle, Jack Sprats.
They have an amazing range of cakes including many that are gluten/wheat free.
They also do a big range of vegan meals & deserts and the prices are really low compared to some veggie restaurants.
They do a cracking vegan fish n chips and they also stock the vegusto vegan cheese rangenever take advice from broke or unsuccessful people

I hope everyone is well.
I haven't looked at the thread in a while so just trying to catch up.
I wondered if anyone in the London area went to the London Vegan Potluck 2 on wednesday
in Brixton.
This is a monthly event now ( first wednesay of every month)
I 'm not sure i've ever eaten so much fabulous vegan food before.
The next one is on July 6th if any London vegans want to attend.
In the meantime here are some reviews/pictures of wednesdays event.
First review is from Sean (the London Vegan 2 Potluck organiser)

I became a vegan just 9 months ago, for ethical reasons, after being a strict vegetarian for over 15 years. Ironically, I have never felt better (possibly because most junk food is unsuitable), although most people think that vegans suffer from mental illness
- but hey-ho, I think meat is barbaric, so each to their own!
Yesterday I learnt of an inititiative that could possibly change my mind though, that is a distribution chain for slaughter-free dairy produce. The cows are not reared for slaughter, from what I understand the milk is prioritised for the young calves, and only the excess is sold for human consumption. I may well go back to a limited amount of dairy if it is ethically sourced (obviously processed / restaurant foods containing milk will still be a no-go!). To be successful, there would need to be a critical mass of consumers ordering regularly within a given geographical area: http://www.ahimsamilk.org/ .
I realise that not everyone viewing this thread will agree with this, but I guess it depends on your reasons for veganism in the first place...Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Whilst the idea is interesting, they're still breeding animals to be used by humans which isn't within the vegan ethos. This isn't really the thread for people to find ways of justifying giving up veganism. If you want to discuss staying/going vegetarian please start a new thread. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
Hello all!
I realise I might be a bit late for joining this now HUGE thread but I'm a lifelong vegetarian (and now aspiring vegan) and thought it'd be nice to join in with this and chat to you all
I noticed you talking about vegan / veggie events up there ^^^ I expect it's been mentioned already, but has anyone ever been to VegfestUK in Brighton or Bristol? They always have tons of incredible plant-based foods on offer and also traders always seem to have lots of special offers running at the shows (ties in nicely with the money-saving theme of this website)
Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

'Ethical' or not, why someone would want to drink something that came out of a cow's udder (and is naturally intended for small calves, not humans) is beyond me. Same with chicken ovulations.0 -
