Sorry sleepymy, I had read the post but didn't mean for my question to be 'debating' veganism, just clarifying what it meant.

I'll post it in the discussion forum, any views welcome!

No problem Maddie, thanks for understanding. The only problem with discussions like that is that they usually attract flamers which vegans have to deal with a lil too often lol

Quick question over vegan 'cheeses'. I recently bought 'The uncheese cookbook', but untill I get my bum into gear and experiment with some of the cheese recipies I am still buying readymade :)

I usually get the Redwood Cheezley, but looking through the Suma catalogue I've come across Sheese. Has anyone tried this and if so, can they give me an idea of how nice / horrid it is compared to Redwoods? I'm really interested in their version of mozzerella.

Also, after any pizza type ideas which don't use dairy-free cheese. I make most of my pizzas with crumbled tofu on instead of cheese, however DS1 (a veggie) wants to go vegan but is struggling with his loss of pizza as he doesn't much like tofu (but keeps trying to, bless him :) ), and didn't like the Redwood mozzerella. Bit odd really as he will happily eat their 'chedder'.

Anyone got any topping ideas they would be kind enough to share?

Hey OldMcDonald, I haven't tried the mozzarella scheeze but have tried the smoked and it's lovely. They did a big revamp of their cheeses and have greatly improved them. They had a stall a the Bristol Vegan fayre but I only tried the smoked.

My hubby makes pizza using garlic nann bread as a base, just spread with tomato (or suma pesto) and loads of veggies without the cheese. They are really delicious and I personally don't miss the cheese on them at all. Although I can't eat wheat atm *sobs*

Oh thanks savvy, I'll have to have a look at that!

I made some banana, cinnamon & raisin muffins tonight with the doves farm white gluten free. Think I might have put too much xantium gum in as they're a bit chewy but damn tasty with strawberry B'nice while still hot :D

    Hiya, Im vegan too.

I prefer Redwoods super melting chese to the Sheese one but everyone has different tastes?

Have you tried smoked or marinated tofu or the yummy one with sesame/almonds in it? Much taster than plain though it aint cheap. I buy plain then soak it it tamari then grill it,Yum!

I rarely have vegan cheese on my pizza and just use lots of tomatoes - tinned & pure, peppers, onion, mix herbs, olives, sweecorn etc.

Nice to find so many. I used to eat sheese ages ago but not since Redwoods have made the supermelting cheezly.

Oh my!! I've not come across this one (but really, really, really wish I had!) What brand is it, so I can start searching / hassleing poor lady at local health food shop?

Thanks for the pizza ideas guys. Sleepymy - Which of the Suma pestos are vegan? Is it their own brand one? I usually make my own as I haven't come across a vegan version till now.

I have the suma catalogue untill this evening (when I have to pass it on), so will search for it later.

    OMD :D
