Please don't be too cruel as Im sat here crying and feel crap already.
We bought a second hand car on the 17th April and used all our savings £4500. Looked at the car, OH drove it, asked all the relevant questions blah blah. Paid a deposit and OH had to get the rain next day as it was 30 minutes away.
Anyway, got the the front wheel bearing down yesterday but made no difference as there was a grinding light noise coming from side. Anyway OH took to Citroen today to get hooked up to their machine and its come back very bad. Its going to cost 3k minimum and thats if the turbos haven't gone. The cars done 73k and is 2007.
I don't think we have any rights. OH spoke to seller yesterday as we were told that it might be the particulate filter and this would cost £500+. He was sheepish and said that he'd get his mechanic to look at it, but OH decided to just take to dealer and get them to hook up to their machine. OH hasn't been able to contact the seller in the last hour and has left a message and text to ask him to call him.
I take it we have no rights whatsoever?
The car is mainly used for me to get to the London hospitals to get my treatment as Im very ill. The guy knew this as we had to measure the wheelchair etc.
I am sat here crying. I know its only money, but I don't know what we're going to do? OH has gone to collect the car and get the report.
Can anyone give me any advice?

To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,
requires brains!

If he is a driveway dealer tell him you want all your money back, comp. for your costs so far and assure him you will spread the word here, on ebay, autotrader and gumtree if he doesn't immediately comply.
Hope it works, then take your money to a local, recommended indie and get a car there. Even then, do the checks on him and the car before you part with your cash.0 -
Did you sign any kind of contract/confirmation of purchase and vehicle condition?0

firstly take a look on ebay and print off any listings past present where he is elling/sold cars.
private or dealer is not of the greatest importance as the vehicle must be fit for use,OR had any faults listed before purchase,
give your local CAB or whatever they are called nowadays a call and get advice from themIMOJACAR

If he's selling cars off his driveway, there's also a limit to how many he can sell in one year before the tax man jumps on him. Might be worth investigating that and then mentioning this to him at some point.
FYI these driveway car dealers really annoy me, because many are unemployed, claiming benefits and making cash "on the side" selling dodgy motors.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Ive printed the current one he has and another one that didn't sell last week.
The V5 form wasn't in his name either and was miles away from where he lives, so it must be dealer?
He is ignoring OH's calls.
Ive contacted CAB and have a unique reference number and explained everything to them.
Is that all ok?To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -

No contract signed, just a receipt to say what we had paid and sold as seen or something like that.To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
