Wow what a situation your OH has put you in. I don't really know what to say about this, other than to hope that he changes his mind once he's had a chance to calm down. Much as I can see why he's aggrieved, giving up everything because of this is a tad over-reactive. Does he know how hard it is to get jobs at the moment?

Anyway, enough about the selfish man - sorry to hear you are struggling with your back along with other things. Hope you get better soon.

As to your comment about feeling funny about posting once debt free, it's people like you that give us long-timers hope that one day it'll happen to us too. I love your posts, please don't disappear on me once you are DF.

  • Gosh, I'd be furious, that's a really immature way to behave, especially as its your home, not just the salary. My DH isn't very happy at work either (teacher, v. stressful), but he understands he has responsibilities and would find it tricky to get another, particularly such a secure, job, with good benefits. I think you gave n excellent point about your eldest son & exams too. I hope you're ok chick, I really feel for you.

Any further forward with any F&F settlement news?

Sorry to hear your news, just as things look like they are going well, you get a big kick in the pants and are brought back down to earth. You feel like things will never get better, makes it worse when you haven't caused the problem.

Hope you have a much better day tomorrow.x

Oh dear, DFW; don't know what to think about your DH's bombshell! :(

Really hope it's not an irreversible decision - or maybe could be put off for another year until DS1 has got through his next set of exams?

Certainly something that you and DH need to talk about, at length.
Hope you can think through your reasoning beforehand - and keep your temper!

Bah to late-paying tenant and back pain.. :(
..Both of which hopefully will resolve themselves very soon.
    (((hugs)))
  • Hope your back feels better soon:)

Unfortunately I am going to sit on the other side of the fence with regard to your DH - I can see exactly why he has done what he has

My DH has done the same time and time again and at the start it was the most annoying thing and I worried about how we would cope but then I realised that his mental health is so important.

I won't rabbit on about my DH too much but his mental health is so precarious that for me him leaving work is the lesser of the two evils - I would rather he was jobless at home than sectioned.

He has quit jobs for what I think are petty reasons (similar to your DH) and also he does not care about convenience and ease whereas I think an easy job that might be considered boring paid at £10 per hour is fine but he doesn't he would rather be busy and earn less money.

Luckily for us something has always cropped up for him so he has never been out of work for long and never needed to claim benefits.

I don't worry so much now as I work full time and we can nearly manage on just my wage.

One thing I do agree with is how selfish it is and he should have discussed it with you first.

Hopefully he will change his mind and if he doesn't you can private rent in the same town as DS1 school and leave DH be. If you are not working you can claim HB (up to a certain amount) as your house in Wales has no equity you will qualify.
  • Sorry should have said - are you taking your Agnus?

Take more if need be, hopefully it will keep you calm.
  • Thank you all for popping by :A

I haven't had a chance to talk to him properly yet, last night he skulked off to the garden to pack his kit as he's on exercise for 2 weeks from next week. He also has to go to Kenya in October for 6 weeks. I know the signs quite well, I think, an exercise or course comes up and he has to go away for a length of time (from 2 weeks to 6 months) and he does this every time. He's almost signed off approximately 10 times :(

I'm still in agony today but going to get some painkillers later and get DS1 to babysit the two smaller ones once they are in bed. We'll go off out for a drink and cinema (as tickets need using) and hopefully chat about it there. I know he's unhappy and i'm really torn as to what to do. As some of you have pointed out though I think it's rather upsetting that he doesn't talk to me first, calls me whilst he's practically outside his RSM's office (sgt mjr) ready to do it  this is what upset me so much. I've also been in the situation he's in and I had some real b1tches that made my life hell (looking back now I can see they were just jealous...I was saving for a house, had a fiancee and a baby and I suppose seemingly had it sorted in their eyes *rolls eyes*) but I stuck at it for 2 years until I had enough savings to leave. I've had several other jobs that i've hated to the same extent but haven't lasted as long :o I knew DH didn't want to stay where he was, hence my 5 year plan. I was hoping he'd stay put just until DS1 finished his exams (summer 2015) and then we could move up north where rent is cheaper and where we want to be anyway.

When DH moved out briefly last summer I wasn't entitled to any HB or CTB and it scares me that he's going to leave and we'll be without anything :( I'm really hoping I can get him to stay for another year, sign off earliest next July and we can move the following July. I think he's making noises at work about leaving so they offer him somewhere else personally, but he's not said this to me. And if they do move him elsewhere in the country i'm still in the dilemma of moving DS1 :( argh!! So I will chat to him and see what is what....

Payday tomorrow. SHE hasn't paid  boy will she get my wrath today. I called her 3 times yesterday as I couldn't get a signal to text and it was ignored. I'm going out later so may text her then...I need to pop to m@talan as my order is in :T I have shoes to wear now if it's raining. How exciting :D. *cough cough* I also ordered a bread maker last night after a few glasses of wine *cough*:o:o:o
