..they are coming thick and fast now...court pending action letter now in my sticky little fingers...comparing it with the sticky examples (newlyn) letter, mine has at least spelt County correctly, rather than Country...
..might I be seeing the last of these I wonder?

Out of interest...the letter states 'proceedings will be initiated in the County Court....etc' ..does saying that mean they actually do this? Surely that would be a waste of effort for them?

No, they don't initiate anything in the Court, it's all bluff.

Question for my learned colleagues on here:

If they say they WILL initiate proceedings, and then inevitably don't, can the OP take action, or register any kind of complaint such as OfT, SRA or something?

I think it is against OFT Debt Collector Guidelines, yes.

Check further back in the sentence, and there ought to be an "if".

The letter says..after the blah blah bit about being instructed to recover the above sum...

'You are formally advised that unless the payment is received within 14 days, proceedings will be initiated in the County Court where a Judgement may be obtained. The CCJ may then be enforced by a court appointed bailiff' etc etc.

    No 'if' in there!

I do think they are being naughty here when they subsequently don't take action, which is what WILL happen (see what I did there?).
