i have been threatened with court action by car parking and select services this was at portland place in doncaster we did not have a ticket on windscreen just got a demand for payment 5 months later they want £160 for 15 mins over they sent me a photo of my car with the notice on windscreen but it was not there when returned to car the demand for payment is in my name but i was at work so i am not liable have told them this but they still say i have to pay up
Steve, these people tell lies for a living. First off you don't owe them anything at all. They are nothing but scammers. As Manx said this is an old trick. Don't actually put a ticket on and then tell you months later that you owe them- by which time, it is more and they are counting on you no longer having the pay and display receipt to prove you did pay, or should I say, whoever was driving at the time paid.
They will not do anything if you don't pay- there is nothing they can do. They would have to prove who was driving, contrary to the LIE they have told you, so they are boogaroolered.
Treat these crooks with the contempt they deserve. Don't speak to them again and totally ignore any garbage they send you. They WILL go away when they realise they have been rumbled and they are not going to con you out of any money.

It's a very good question - and one for the registered keeper to put in the strongest terms to the DVLA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I think there was a scam within a scam where a company which WAS entitled to the info would get details for one which wasn't. Upon payment of a small commission of course. Hard to believe this hasn't happened here, as this bunch are obviously cowboys of the worst kind.
Poster needs to get a statement from DVLA as to who they gave the info to and why.0 -
Or they just fill out a paper application.
Its only the electronic access you get from being BPA members. The manual method still exists as an option for non-BPA members.
They still have to show some kind of 'reasonable cause' though. Or not, as we all know.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
£2.50 is certainly a "reasonable cause" so far as DVLA is concerned. They sell themselves cheaply.0

Not according to the DVLA even paper applications regarding parking tickets the RK details will only be given to AOS members!
Dear esmerobbo,
I can confirm that a private parking company needs to be a member of the BPA’s approved operator scheme before the DVLA will release vehicle keeper details to them for the purpose of issuing tickets or chasing non payment.
I hope this helps with your queries.

So we are back to how this firm of cowboys got the details.0

I stand corrected.
This PPC has obviously told a porky at some stage in the process (or the DVLA have simply ignored the level of protection they need to provide for people's data, but they would never ever do that, surely?).
Where's that sarcasm smiley?Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Lets be honest here:
The DVLA dont give a stuff as long as they get the money.
The BPA, give even less of a stuff as long as they get their bit.
And the people who have these tickets would be affording the parking companies too much time by chasing it up.
People can buy your address from dvla and send you invoices in the post.
Get over it, get on with life.
Just treat them same as any other junk mail you get.
Most councils have even given you a new bin to put them all in.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
